I think people out in the street could’ve heard me calling Xander’s name, now that I think about it.

“Ummm…Is everything alright?” one of the shop assistants asks, and I only look up to Xander for his reply.

“Delicious!” he exclaims, “I mean… We’ll take everything she’s picked. Have it all sent over to the newest Condor Hotel, will ya?” he tells them.

He also lets them know I’ll wear what I have on back to the hotel. He murmurs that I won’t be wearing it for long once we’re out of earshot.

It feels like I’m not the only one speechless as he ushers me out of the boutique, ignoring the security alarm as he moves for the limo.

Calling over his shoulder to put it on the bill, the staff, including the security guard, gather at the door, stunned.

It feels like a dream, everything’s changing so fast, but it’s the most alive I’ve ever felt.

Not to mention the single hottest thing I’ve ever done and outdoing any fantasy I could have come up with on my own.

But it also proves one thing, okay, two things.

One – Xander Alexander really is a man who knows what he wants, and two – he could literally get away with murder in the process of getting it if he wanted.

The limo makes a sudden surge forward, pulling out into traffic, that sees Xander falling back into the seat opposite me, smiling like he’s just robbed a bank.

“That was something else, wasn’t it?” he beams, edging my legs apart again with his feet and focusing his full attention on what I know he wants most between my legs still.

“What did you mean, you know?” I ask, pressing my legs together while trying not to sound like a party pooper.

I need to know for my own curiosity and be sure we’re both talking about the same thing.

“I won’t mention it if it’s gonna spoil our moment,” he croons, leaning forward and letting his hand slide up my new dress, which still has a tag on it and looks like it’s been dragged through a bush.

I can feel my teeth chewing my lower lip.

The old Chloe’s coming back, making me feel unsure of myself.

Nervous.

Scared that Xander maybe didn’t understand me as well as I thought.

“What’s the matter?” Xander asks, pulling his hand back, looking full of concern.

“I’ve never done anything like that,” I explain, trying hard to find the words.

The right words, though. I don’t even know if there are the right words for what I have to say right now.

“Well, if I’m honest. I have….” Xander smiles, shaking his head the way he does when he smiles to himself.

“I don’t just mean being in the change room…I mean…I’ve never–,” I stammer, breaking off.

Xander knots his brow, still not even warm.

For a sharp guy, he can be pretty slow on some things.

“I’ve never been with anyone,” I mumble, looking out the window, covering my lap with my hands.

“I’ve never even kissed anyone until today,” I add, feeling guilty somehow. Like there’s something wrong with me compared to the rest of the human race.

I keep my focus out of the tinted windows, unable to look at Xander because his silence is killing me inside.

He must think…Ugh. God only knows what he must think of me acting like that.

Then again, he didn’t seem to be complaining when he had his face buried between my legs.

Despite my mood, the memory of what we just did makes me smile to myself.

Glancing over to Xander, I can see his smile wider than mine. Like he’s just heard the best news ever.

“Did you hear what I just said?” I ask him, trying to hold onto my mood, but against his smile, his massive hands back on my knees.

It’s impossible to be upset around Xander for long.

“You mean that apart from being the most amazing, beautiful girl in the world, you’re telling me that it’ll be your first time when I claim you?” he asks.

The smile on his face only gets wider with each word.

Being a virgin doesn’t sound half bad having him put it like that.

“Maybe I wanna stay that way, too,” I tease him, cocking my brow and trying just a fraction of the swagger Xander carries naturally.

He knows I’m only fooling, though.

This thing between us is way more than just me hitching a free ride to see where it goes.

As soon as I saw his picture in that magazine, and then in the hotel, before the man himself walked right in the door, I knew.

It might sound silly to some, but I’m convinced it’s destiny that’s brought us together. And it’s up to us to keep it that way.

It feels like he’s reading my mind when Xander takes my hands in his.

His eyes are blazing with that same intensity but not looking anywhere near so lonesome anymore.
