“I was so nervous about this,” she said.
Everything made sense now.
“Oh, that’s why you’ve been twitchy all day. I thought you were just nervous about the wedding or being around people or saw an ex or something,” I said.
To be fair, there were definitely a few exes in attendance, but I’d been ignoring them.
“Nope. I had to stop myself from constantly checking for the ring,” she said.
I looked at my hand for the first time to really check out the ring.
It was beautiful with a square sapphire and a white gold band that had a curling pattern like waves carved on it. The ring was everything I could have wanted.
“It’s perfect,” I said. “Wait, where did you hide the box?”
Esme winked at me. “I got a thigh holster. I’ll show you later.”
“Holy shit, that is the hottest thing. You could have led with that and I would have said yes,” I said.
Esme threw her head back and laughed.
“I love you so much, Paige.”
