‘But it’s not as if you can pretend to be your brother. Now you are together, he’ll know it’s you immediately.’
‘I know that.’ Lexie stretched over for the wine and poured herself a glass. ‘I’m going to get to the airport early, so I’m at the departure gate before him. That’s where I’ll do the ta-da moment when he arrives.’
Kate nodded. ‘That should work as long as he doesn’t phone George. Wouldn’t it be better to get on the plane and lurk until he can’t use his mobile?’
Lexie took a sip of wine. ‘I can try,’ she said doubtfully.
The doorbell rang.
‘That’s the pizzas.’ Kate stood up.
‘Or Owen,’ Lexie said.
‘Oh yes,’ Kate paused at the door to the hall. ‘I know what I can do on Friday. I’ll get George off home on time and snaffle his phone from him, so he’ll be out of reach during the critical ta-da time.’
The doorbell rang again.
‘Better answer that,’ Lexie said. ‘It’s our pizzas getting cold or Owen getting hot.’
