“Oh no. How did they even know we were here?”
“Someone must have tipped off a photographer.”
As he pocketed his phone, she said, “Who would do that?”
He gathered her in his arms, unable to quell his smile.
Her jaw dropped. “You did it?”
“I wanted the world to know you were mine, but given the situation with Casey, I asked the photographer not to take pictures of your face. So at least now the world knows I’m taken. Is that okay?”
Her eyes lit up, and she was grinning as hard as he was. “It’s unbelievably okay, and Reggie is reopening the case, so people will find out anyway. But tell me the truth. Did you want to rub it in Todd’s face?”
He held up his finger and thumb about an inch apart. “Maybe a little.”
She laughed. “How did I go from planning a wedding I didn’t want to being with a man I don’t want to live without?”
“Can’t live without me, huh?” He kissed her neck. “Tell me more.”
More melodic laughter fell from her lips. “What’ll it get me?”
“Now you’re learning, sweetheart. How about a warm bath and a back rub?”
“Only if you’re in the tub with me.”
“It’ll be a hardship, but I think I can handle it.”
