She leaned forward and pressed her lips to his. His lips were even warmer and softer than she’d imagined, so perfect, she lingered, wanting more. When their lips finally parted, her heart was racing, and she was desperate to chase that entrancing feeling. He must have felt it, too, because he kept her close, sliding his hand into her hair as he brushed his lips over hers and whispered her name. His mouth came coaxingly down over hers in a slow, sensual kiss. Her body flooded with awareness. He tasted of lust and something deeper, and he didn’t rush, didn’t push too hard or linger too softly as his tongue swept over hers, like he was savoring the feel and taste of her, and oh how she wanted to savor him. “So sweet,” he said against her lips before taking the kiss deeper, exploring every dip and curve of her mouth.

He kissed her so thoroughly, she came away dizzy with desire. Her eyes fluttered open, and she was spellbound by the raw emotions looking back at her.

“I’ve wanted to do that for eight and a half long months.” He pressed his lips to hers in another sweet kiss. “I’d better go run that bath before I get carried away. Do you have any candles left?”

“Uh-huh,” she said breathlessly.

“Candles?”

That sparked her brain into gear. Geez! It was just a kiss. Pull yourself together. “There are some on my dresser and in my bathroom, but you don’t have to—”

He silenced her with another tender kiss. “I want to. Just point me in the right direction.”

She pointed down the hall and watched him disappear into her bedroom in his gray sweatpants and a black T-shirt that clung to his broad back. Giddiness bloomed inside her, and she flopped against the back of the couch, grinning up at the ceiling and petting Coco.

How could the worst day of her life also be the best?

A few minutes later, Jax sauntered back into the living room. He walked behind the couch, put his hands on her shoulders, and leaned over her, eyeing Coco, who was lying on her back with her head on Jordan’s leg as she scratched her belly. “I’ll never get her to leave now.”

“Good. I don’t want you to leave.”

He leaned over and kissed her forehead like he’d been doing it forever, and it felt that way, too. “Then how about if I order us some dinner while you relax in the tub?”

“You’re spoiling me again.”

“Sweetheart, I haven’t even begun spoiling you.” He came around the couch and took her hand. Coco followed them down the hall. He stopped at the entrance to her bedroom. “I’ll wait out here for a few minutes while I order dinner in case you need anything.”

“Okay.” She went through the bedroom, and even though she’d known he was lighting candles, her breath caught at the sight of their flames dancing in the dimly lit bathroom. He’d put bubbles in the tub and laid a washcloth over the side and two fresh towels on the sink. She relived their kisses as she stripped off her clothes and sank into the warm water, wishing Jax were in there with her. The bubbles covered her body, and she had a thrilling thought about asking him to join her. But she couldn’t do that.

Could she?

A little voice in her head said, Yes, you can! The only thing standing between you and the man you want is your own inhibitions. She’d been miserable for so long, she deserved a little happiness, and that wonderful man out there deserved to know how much she wanted him.

“Jax?” She closed her eyes, unable to believe she was doing it!

He opened the bathroom door just a crack. “I’m right here. What do you need?”

“You.”

He peered around the door and grinned. “Me?”

“Mm-hm.” She scooted forward in the tub. “In here with me, please.”

She didn’t have to ask twice. He told Coco to stay and closed the door, holding her gaze as he stripped off his shoes, socks, and clothes, and holy mother of hotness. His body was a work of art, all hard planes and defined muscles and an enticingly long, thick cock nestled between powerful thighs, all of which put Todd to shame. Her loneliest parts clenched with desire as he settled into the tub behind her, drawing her back against his chest.

He gathered her hair to one side and kissed her shoulder. “These freckles have taunted me since I first saw them.”

Kind of like your mouth taunting me.She ached to have his mouth on hers again.

He put body wash on the washcloth. “Lie back and close your eyes.”

She did as he asked, and he kissed her shoulder again, whispering, “So soft and beautiful.” The feel of his warm lips trailing up her neck and his teeth and tongue on her skin had her vibrating with desire. He pushed the washcloth down her arm and over the crest of her breasts, the edge of it brushing her taut nipples, sending spikes of pleasure over her flesh. She sucked in a sharp breath, wishing it were his bare hands on her.

As if he’d read her mind, his hands snaked around her belly, palms to flesh. Need stacked up inside her as he caressed his way down her ribs and stomach and over her thighs, squeezing them just tight enough to draw a needy whimper. She felt his arousal hard and insistent against her back, heightening her own desires. His fingertips rested so close to where she needed him most, she knew he was trying not to rush her. But she needed more, and as she’d done with Jax so many times in different ways, she threw caution to the wind and covered his hand with hers, guiding it between her legs.

He moaned, low and rough, into her ear and nipped at her neck as his fingers slid through her wetness, zeroing in on the bundle of nerves at the apex of her sex. She gasped at the shock of pleasure spiking through her, and he growled. “Mm, you like…”

“So much,” she panted out.
