“Think you can clear your schedule to be my date for the premiere, Ms. Lawler?” Jax asked quietly.
“I’d clear my schedule to be your anything, Mr. Braden.”
If she only knew the doors that opened.
“We want to make time to go to Silver Island before the fall to check out Zev and Carly’s diving expedition before they go back to Colorado.” His mother reached for his father’s hand. “I might even take a diving lesson or two.”
“About damn time.” Zev chuckled.
As Zev and Carly updated everyone on their expedition progress, Jax pulled Jordan closer and said, “He and Carly spend the warmer months diving off the coast of Silver Island and winters in Colorado.”
“I know. Carly told me. She and the girls filled me in on everyone.” She put her mouth beside his, whispering, “I love them.”
This was exactly what he’d wanted for her, support from people who wouldn’t let her down and would cheer her on every step of the way. “I guess that means you’re having fun.”
“Are you kidding? Your family is amazing. I feel like it’s my birthday, and you and your family and the opportunity with Jilly are my gifts.”
She was the amazing one, putting her heart on the line for them, and he was desperate to get her in his arms and show her just how much he appreciated her courage.
“Speaking of gifts.” He ran his hands down her back. “I can’t wait to unwrap mine.”
