He raised himself on his forearms, panting for a second before kissing me hard and deep. I already thought he was an incredible kisser, but this was an entirely different energy. Possessive. I loved it.
After a moment, we separated so that we could breathe, and he rolled onto his back, pulling me into his side and throwing the blanket over us again.
"That was incredible, Lila. How do you feel?"
"Exhausted, and wonderful," I whispered, snuggling against his shoulder.
I fell asleep almost immediately, but shortly afterwards I woke up for a second, feeling Hawk's hand stroking my hair.
His voice was barely a whisper, more like just mouthing words so that I didn't wake up. "I love you, Lila. Let that sink into your mind, okay?"
I wanted to tell him that I was falling for him as well, but waves of sleep were already pulling me under again.
"I love you, Lila. We're going to get married someday…beach…take over…Kingston estate…"
I couldn't understand what he was saying, but it sounded serious, and involved plans for our future.
I was so wrapped up in bliss that I couldn't tell him that there were limitations on what I could do in public. Maybe in the morning I could try to explain, without giving everything away yet.
Allowing the deep satisfaction that I had finally been able to act on my own desires to envelop me, I fell back asleep in Hawk’s arms.
