Overwhelmed, Hazel turned in a circle and just admired it. She felt like she was in a dream. “I don’t need to see the rest of the house.”
“Can I pick out my room?” Evie asked.
Callum chuckled. “Sure.” He showed them two master suites and two other bedrooms on the second level. There was also a theater room. He took them to a room done in pale blue, light gray and white that had a built-in oversized bunk bed, the top more like a mini balcony. There was a seating area, built-in bookshelf and an antique trunk.
“Wow!” Evie ran to the bunk bed and climbed up the white ladder to her tower, peering down at them with a big smile.
“There’s toys in the trunk,” Callum said. “Marlowe had it filled.”
“Come on,” he said to Hazel, “You need to pick out our room.”
The two master suites were similar except one was decorated in darker colors and the one she fell in love with was more like a beach-house bedroom. The closet was big enough to be another bedroom.
“Oh, Callum. I can’t believe this.” She faced him. How could she have gotten so lucky?
“I take it you’re willing to live here?” he asked.
“More than willing. This is wonderful.”
“Good, then we’ll get help bringing our things here in the morning.”
“Oh, my...” She turned in another circle. “Are you sure?” Did he really want her?
He walked to her. “You deserve it.” Sliding his hand around to her back, he pulled her to him.
“How will I ever match all this extravagance? I can never give you anything like this.”
“You gave me your love, that’s enough for me.”
“But...”
“Shh. What is mine is yours. Never feel otherwise.”
That would take some time. She’d have to get accustomed to having money. But she would never take it for granted. She appreciated him getting them a reasonably sized house. And for thinking of her profession. She would have to pinch herself every day to make sure it was real.
“I love you,” she said.
“I love you, too.” He kissed her.
“I want to have your baby.” She kissed him.
“Let’s get started right away.”
She smiled against his lips. As soon as Evie was asleep, she’d like nothing more.
