Nell had been thinking about this day since Lawrynn had called and told her that they were going to see Nikki. She wasn’t going to let her cousin go through this alone, so she gladly told her that she would ride with her today.
“Not really, but it has to be done. I’m so tired of drama and bullshit. I used to be upset that my life was so boring before now. After all this, I’ll gladly take my boring life back,” she told Nell.
Lawrynn was serious about what she just said. All the bullshit going on was making her life a living hell.
“It’s a good thing that you have Murder to help you get through it all. I know if you didn’t have him, you would’ve gone crazy a long time ago,” Nell said.
“Do you think she’ll even care that we’re sisters? I know you can’t go back and change the past, but knowing all that she did just makes it worse. My sister was fucking my man behind my back for years. They could’ve had a child together. Now I’m all in love with my ex’s best friend. We all chill together, well we did,” she said.
“Pain ain’t fucking with y’all no more like that?” Nell asked.
She had been home and not answering the phone, so she didn’t know about anything that had gone down in the last few days. Lawrynn gave her the run down on everything including the meeting they were set to have.
“Bitch, we saw Lamelle when we went to lunch the other day. He pulled Allen outside talking about he wanted a meeting too. They got us all fucked up if they think that they’re gonna have this meeting without us. Especially you. Everything is mostly about you, anyway. You should be able to speak for yourself and dictate what happens to your mother and those tacky ass brothers of yours. We going to that fucking meeting,” Nell told Lawrynn.
They pulled into the parking lot of the jail and looked around. Taking a deep sigh in unison as if it was planned, they looked at each other and laughed.
“You should be my sister instead of Nikki,” Lawrynn said.
“I’ll say I already am. It’s not like any of us fucked with her like that in the first place. She may be new to the sister situation, but she’s always been a jealous ass bitch. I hope you don’t think y’all are going to be okay after this,” Nell said.
“We’ll never be chill toward each other. I almost died from that shit she did. I know you’re supposed to forgive, but I’m not there yet,” Lawrynn honestly said.
When they got into the jail, they had to go through the process that everyone hates. The pat downs were always the worst part. Lawrynn always felt like she was being groped or felt up instead of being searched for weapons or contraband. She had to bite her tongue when she felt the guard squeeze her behind just a bit too much.
“Are you finished yet?” she asked the guard with an attitude.
“Yeah, you’re good, babygirl,” the guard said. He looked at her like he was thinking of nasty things to do to her.
Lawrynn just rolled her eyes at him because she knew he was full of shit. There was usually a female guard there to pat her down. Now, all of a sudden there wasn’t a female guard available to pat her down, so he had to do it. How fucking convenient, is what Lawrynn thought. She knew this would be her last time coming to the jail unless Murder ended up in one.
“Have a seat in the common area. The prisoners are on the way down now,” he said before licking his crusty ass lips.
“That nasty fucker needs his ass beat. Did you see him feel me up?” Lawrynn asked Nell.
“I damn sure did. I even hit Allen off with his name and shit before I put my phone and shit in the locker. He at least needs to get knocked the hell out for all that extra shit he’s was doing,” Nell said seriously.
“Thanks for always having my back, cousin,” Lawrynn said just before Nikki sat down on the other side of the small cubicle.
“I didn’t expect to see you here,” Nikki said with a smile on her face.
“This isn’t a social visit. I came to get some things off my chest. I also wanted you to see that even though you tried to blind me, I can see your shiesty ass clear as day. Even though you felt like you won that day you sprayed that shit in my face, you really lost. You need to know that you’re not my cousin. You’re my sister. Our mother gave you to Auntie to raise because she thought that would make my daddy stay after she cheated on him. I guess you know where you get the burning desire to please a man from. So, not only did you constantly fuck your sister’s boyfriends, but you got knocked up by one. As for you trying to get at Murder, that was one thing I was never concerned about. You may think that you’re hood royalty, but you’re just some convenient coochie. Now that you’re in here, you’re just a convenient Lunchable with legs. I bet they’re having a field day with your ass. You don’t have to lie, sneak, or steal for a nut anymore,” Lawrynn said.
“Sisters? So, Auntie Laura is my mama? Who’s my daddy? Why didn’t she come up here and tell me herself?” Nikki asked, trying to grasp the whole situation. “Who told you that?” Nikki asked.
“Our mother finally told the truth when my dad popped back up in town. I don’t know who your dad is because she never said his name. We barely got the truth out of her about you being her child,” Lawrynn said.
“Who were the people I had to go visit during the summer?” Nikki asked with tears in her eyes. “If they weren’t family, that means I didn’t have to go there. They all let me go anyway,” she said as tears started to fall.
“You should’ve said something. You took your pain and anger out on us, and we didn’t have shit to do with anything you were going through. Did you really think that sleeping with our boyfriends or guys we were dating was gonna help you get the help you needed?” Nell asked.
“At first I tried just to see if I could do it. After the first time, the rest was easy. Out of all the boyfriends y’all had, Murder and Allen are the only ones I didn’t fuck or suck. You two were the goody goodies. If I took something of yours, I was good. For a small amount of time, I was better than both of y’all. Pain was supposed to be the one who broke you to the point that you would live an unhappy life forever,” Nikki said.
The lack of emotion in her eyes and the hate that laced her voice made the hairs one the back of Lawrynn’s neck rise.
“You are a hateful bitch to the core. I’m sitting here telling your ass that we are blood sisters and you tried to fucking kill me, and all you have to say is that you wanted my to be unhappy in life. Are you fucking serious right now? When you get back to that dingy ass cot that you’re sleeping on I hope you choke on your spit and die, bitch,” Lawrynn
said.
