“Regardless of what she’s done, she’s still family, jackass. You need to keep that same energy when them child support orders start rolling in. Truth be told, we’re all at fault for her being the way she is. We should’ve seen something wasn’t right with her when she came back. That’s what her real problem is. I’m sure there’s more to it than that little bi
t she just said. You’re gonna help her get to the car because if you don’t, we’re gonna have to call an ambulance for you and her,” Laura said as she eyeballed her son.
Knowing his mother wasn’t bluffing, he helped his brother like she told him to. He knew he was in for a long day because this was going to get way more interesting than it already was.
Chapter 24
Pain walked into Lawrynn’s hospital room to see Murder sitting beside her just watching her sleep. He could not only see the love, but he felt it in the air.
Murder looked up to see Pain just standing there looking at him.
“You good?” Murder asked.
“Yeah, umm, I was just coming to check on y’all. You look like you haven’t left this motherfucker at all,” Pain said softly. He didn’t want to wake Lawrynn up, being that she looked so peaceful.
“Nah, not since last night. Nell and Allen’s ass are goin on a date tonight, so I told her I was gonna sit up here. You know it takes females all fucking day to get ready for any damn thing,” Murder said with a smirk. “Have you talked to Nikki lately?”
“Fuck no. I don’t need to talk to her ass either. It’s gonna be hard as fuck for me to keep my hands off her after this shit. I don’t know what the fuck she was thinking. What the fuck was she trying to prove by doing this shit?” Pain said.
Pain couldn’t understand why Nikki would take shit this far. He had already told her to fall back from trying to get with Murder. The only thing on her mind should have been having a healthy baby. He regretted fucking with Nikki more and more every day. Shit was getting hectic, and it was all because of her.
“That’s ya baby mama, man. You gotta talk to her ass,” Murder told him.
“Man, I just wanna wring her neck. I just wanna tell you that no matter what goes down, we’re always gonna be brothers. I know you might be tired of hearing it, but you’re the better man for Lawrynn. I was never faithful to her. I damn sure never catered to her ass like you do. I never thought that you would settle down, but it looks good on ya, man. Take care of her heart, though. I don’t know how much more bullshit she’ll be able to take. Just don’t fuck up like I did. She’s a great ass woman,” Pain told Murder.
“I respect everything you just said. Don’t worry, I got her from here on out, that’s for damn sure. Just make sure you standing next to me when the time comes, my nigga,” Murder told him.
“Yo, you serious?” Pain asked.
“Hell yeah, seeing her like this fucked me up on so many levels. I don’t even want her to go to her spot when she gets out of here. My chest feels like it’s closing every time I look at her. I could never leave her. I don’t care if she gets her sight back or not. I’m in love with her and only her. I haven’t entertained another chick since Law Baby and I first talked. I put all their asses on my block list. I never thought I’d see the day when I settled down, but it’s here, nigga. I’m gonna wait ’til she does her physical therapy and all that other shit, but I’m marrying her ass sho’ nuff,” Murder told Pain.
Pain realized that Murder was serious as a heart attack. There was a quick knock on the door then it slowly opened. Uncle Jimmy and Mrs. Ella walked in. Mrs. Ella was carrying a bag of food, of course.
“I knew I put the extra plate in here for somebody. I came up here to tell y’all that Nikki got bailed out this morning. Judging by the way she slow walked her ass out the doors, I don’t think she’s happy about it. The paperwork says that LJ bailed her out. I hope he didn’t bail her out just to kill her ass,” Mrs. Ella said.
Pain and Murder were half way listening to what she was saying, but they were wondering how the hell those two ended up together.
“How the hell y’all end up walking in here together? Do y’all know each other?” Murder asked.
“Not yet. We just met on the elevator. I noticed that she was going to the same floor I was going to. When I let her out first, I was simply walking to the room. I was surprised when she opened this door,” Uncle Jimmy answered.
“He held the door open for me being that my hands were full. Sir, you have an accent, you’re not from around here, are you?” Mrs. Ella asked.
“No, I’m from Kingston, Jamaica. Murder is my nephew,” he answered.
“Oh yeah? Well, let me get out of here. I’ll call you boys if I find out anything else,” Mrs. Ella said before leaving out of the room with Uncle Jimmy’s eyes focused on the sway of her hips.
As soon as the door closed, the men all looked at each other.
“Looks like I’ll be staying here a little longer nephew,” Uncle Jimmy said with a smile.
The door was pushed open again. This time, it was Lawrynn’s brother, LJ.
“Yo, Pain, they got Nikki’s ass downstairs. She fell and hit her head. She was unconscious when we brought her in. My mama told me to try to get in contact with you to let you know,” LJ said.
Pain rose to his feet and rushed out of the room with LJ behind him.
“Damn, it’s never a dull day around this motherfucker, huh?” Uncle Jimmy said with a smile.
