Adelaide, who was seven going on fucking twenty, sat at a round picnic table with Grimm and Arlen’s daughter, Nyx, both fully immersed in their game of Go Fish. Annie watched over them, pretending to keep score.

I could hear her brother, Lucien, from up in his tree house with Camren and Braxton, Cobra’s twins.

Turning my head back to the patio, my eyes found the pair of beautiful blue ones that had started it all.

“I couldn’t agree more,” I finally responded.

Life was fucking grand.

We still had hard days and colder nights, but being together made it all the more bearable.

This is where our story ended.
