Chapter Nine
Ashort time later, vehicles drove up to the front door.Men piled out of the SUVs.
Hondo threw the door open and smiled.“Ah, good timing, men.”He turned to Sergi and said, “These are the good guys.My security team.They will help us fight the Hounds.”
There were nine of them.They were all very large and they all gave Sergi silent nods.
Sergi nodded back at them and smiled.“Good, the more the well...merrier?My Nomads are here as well but you might never see them.They will be there though.I just got word they are surrounding the Inn and the property.And believe me, they will stop anyone coming in.”He paused, then said, “I have a second team that will be here in about fifteen minutes and they will lend their services as well.”
Hondo led everyone into the lobby the Inn used.There were plenty of chairs and even a couple of large sofas and they all gathered there.“I also got word that Hawkins is coming over to speak to us about several things.Cat told him about what she saw and he’s coming over to relay her messages.”
“Are they safe?”Misha asked in concern as everyone settled in.“Cat and Solana, I mean?”
“Si, they are safe.Hawkins is only bringing a few of his men and the compound is locked down.He has his men on the roof and cameras all around them.If trouble is headed their way, they will see it coming.”
“Da, that is good.”Misha nodded.
“I’ve set up a link to our security room in New York,” Felix mentioned.“And they are feeding us intel as they get it as well.”
“So, we are all set up, aren’t we?”Donald asked.“Now all we have to do is wait for the bad guys to show up.”
Walter stepped into the doorway and said, “We may not have to wait that long.”
Hondo turned and stared at his son.“What is that supposed to mean?”
“I was scanning the street cameras and the highway cameras.Celina pointed out a row of dark sedans heading this way and told me that they were her brothers and their men.There were five of them.They are about an hour away.We watched them cross over into Granite Falls.Hawkins had better hurry and get here or he’s going to get caught in the middle of the hell that’s trying to get to us.”
Hondo didn’t do more than nod when they all heard the sound of cycles coming in.Hondo went to the window beside the door and peered out.He then relaxed his shoulders.“Bueno, Hawkins is here,” he announced to the room.
A few minutes later Hawkins, Kota and Titan came through the doors escorted by Donald.
When Hawkins saw Sergi and his men plus Hondo’s men, he stopped in his tracks.“How soon before all hell breaks out?”
“Maybe an hour?”Hondo shrugged.“I understand they just crossed into Granite Falls.I don’t think they know where we are right now but they will soon learn.”
Hawkins nodded.
Titan stepped up and said, “Cat told me that you may have an inside person coming in and that she is here to help not hinder our setup.”
“Da.”Sergi nodded and explained, “We’ve already met her.The Hounds are her brothers.”
Titan looked surprised by this.“Her brothers?”
“Si,” Hondo replied.“And your Catarina is correct.This woman has no reason to warn us but she did.”He looked over at Hawkins.“Do you remember Alfredo Montoya?”
Hawkins nodded.“Yeah, I remember him.What a damn fool.My wife was the one to take him down, so we could capture him.”
“Your wife?”Sergi asked as he looked confused.
“Si, Sergi,” Hondo said as he tried to explain, “This Rosabel is...very tough.If a man is smart they will never cross her.”
Hawkins laughed.“All true.All true.Especially when she hangs around with Bessy.”
Misha looked curious as he asked, “And this Bessy, she is dangerous as well?”
Titan, Kota and Hawkims, all laughed.
“Yes, she isverydangerous.”Hawkins didn’t enlighten them about the fact that Bessy was a shotgun.
