“It was, well, it was interesting,” I say, hopping up onto the counter.
She smiles, walking over to me. “Interesting, huh? Don’t spare a single detail.”
“Don’t get too excited it’s not what you’re thinking. We just flirted a little bit,” I say with a quick shrug.
“Flirting is fun, details.”
I tell her everything that happened. Even though she didn’t get the part about being dismissed the way Professor Grayson and I did, she still enjoyed my story. Probably a little too much.
“I want to follow you to the study group and see him all over you.”
“Shut up. It’s not like that. It was just some innocent flirting,” I protest.
She waves me off and grabs a water out of the fridge. “We’ll see about that.”
“Seriously Aubrey, I don’t want to be like…” I point down the hallway to Bexley’s room. “I won’t be that girl.”
Looking down the hall, she returns her gaze on me. “You can’t be serious. You and her are nothing alike. What she’s doing, that’s fucked up because it’s not just one professor, it’s, well probably all of them. Also, she’s doing it for a grade, not for pleasure. If you and professor hottie want to hit it a few times, I say go for it.”
I can’t tell if she’s joking or not. She has to be joking. I could never do anything with a professor. It’s just wrong.
“I’m not going for anything. If you think it’s so great, why not go hit it a few times with the coach?” I joke, with a smirk.
“Right, because I’d be so lucky as to have him flirt with me, never mind anything else.”
“You said at the bar he was flirting,” I argue.
Staring off for a second, she smiles before turning to me. “Yeah we did, but we were both drunk. That would never happen sober.”
“Maybe, maybe not.”
“This isn’t about me anyway. This is about you,” she says, moving toward the couch.
I don’t want to talk about this anymore. It was probably a one time deal and even if it wasn’t, I’m not about to throw away everything I’ve worked so hard for. No one is worth that.
I change the subject on leaving the house, and she forgets all about Professor Grayson.

Once we’re both ready,we head to the pub on campus. I’m hoping there are no professor surprises tonight. Of course, I didn’t tell Aubrey that. I told her I wanted to play some pool. I suck at it, but it’s fun when you’re drinking.
“Isn’t your dad coming for a visit tomorrow?”
Pushing my blowing hair out of my face, I smile. “Yep. He’s bringing my new computer, so I’m really excited.”
“Let’s take him to dinner at the diner. Last time it was funny as hell,” she says, laughing.
Last time he was here and we decided to go to the diner he made sure to embarrass me every opportunity he got. He flirted with the waitress, he said the food sucked after eating everything, he pulled guys over and tried setting me up. He’s lucky I have a good sense of humor and that I love him.
“We’ll see about the diner,” I say, laughing as we walk into the pub.
It’s crowded, which shouldn’t surprise me. The nice weather is here and everyone is out. The pub is a great hang out spot. It’s got the bar, some pool tables, and even a dance floor. It’s like being off campus, but not needing to worry about driving home.
We get our drinks and push our way through the crowd to one of the few empty tables. Luckily for me it’s by the pool tables.
“Great view,” Aubrey says, staring at some guy’s ass while he’s bent over the table.
Sipping my drink, I nod my head. “I totally agree.”
