I nod. “I know.”
“I’ll chase you up after the break. Enjoy your honeymoon, man,” He gives me another squeeze and Royce narrows his gaze on me.
“I’ll explain later.” Reaching for my champagne, I take a mouthful, focusing on my wife.
“You look happy, Dad.” Royce’s words tug my attention as I look at him with adoring eyes.
“I am blissfully happy.” I nod, wrapping my arm around the back of his chair.
“You deserve it.” He raises his glass at me.
“So do you.” I look over at Rue and smile at how he goes all giddy when he settles his gaze on her.
“I’m not sure if she’s the one, but…” He wiggles his brows and I laugh. “I do think I’ll get world champion next year,” he boasts, and I give his shoulder a squeeze.
“There is no doubt in my mind, son, no doubt in my mind.”
We finished fourth in the Constructors’ Championship, and I am so proud of my team. Kai has secured a seat at Red Force, and I know he will do big things. Cowan is all set for the new season, and I really am hoping that next year is our year.
“I’ll be back.” I smile as I stand, the DJ calling me to the dance floor, making my way to my bride with the biggest fucking smile on my face.Forever and Ever and Alwaysby Ryan Mackcroons through the intimate room and all eyes are on us.
Snaking my arm around her waist, I pull her close to me. Her smile is wide, her eyes glistening, and my heart leaps in my chest.
“I can’t believe you’re mine,” I whisper against her lips as she brings my left hand to her mouth, kissing over the gold band on my ring finger.
“Forever and always.”
“Forever and always.”
Her hand skims around the back of my neck as she kisses me, our bodies moulding as we begin dancing.
“I love you, Ace.”
“I love you more, stud.”
I shake my head. “You’ll never love me more than I love you.”
“Wanna bet?” She crinkles her nose, and I roll my eyes.
“Seems I am no good at bets.” She tilts her head in question. “I’ll explain after, but right now, I just want to dance with my wife,”
“I can do that.” She smiles before kissing me again and I know I am rich beyond my means and it’s all because of her.

Eyes up,lights out, and just keep watchingechoes around the garage as the race starts and I have never felt the buzz like I am now. Seventy-eight laps and we only have two to go. We’re all watching the Monaco race from the garages, and my heart is in my throat. Royce fucking Lexington is leading the race, and with two laps to go, it seems that the podium is as good as his. Nora clings onto me, Rue is watching all wide eyed as her man races the best he ever has.
Never did I think I would see him cross the line a winner, but he is about to prove me wrong, eradicating any doubt I once had.
“He is going to do it,” Nora whispers and I shush her.
“Don’t jinx it, a lot can still happen.” My eyes are glued to the screen, headphones tucked over our ears as we listen in.
“After pushing race after race, I think we can all agree that no other driver deserves this podium more than Royce Lexington and now here, in Monaco, is he going to claim his first ever win. Listen to that crowd, listen to the cheers, I don’t know about you, Marcel, but I am buzzing to have witnessed him blossom into the driver he is today. Following in his father’s footsteps, he is the one to watch and here we have it, Royce Lexington wins the Monaco Grand Prix!”
The garage runs out, climbing the fence as they cheer and fist pump the air at their driver crossing the line, and the roars echo.
