“Please, sit. I’ll grab some towels,” I say softly as they take their seats on the sofas and I disappear upstairs to get towels and blankets.

I hand them to them and watch on as Royce wraps it around her then places the blanket over her legs. Then, once is he satisfied, he tends to himself. I turn my back and make them their drinks, but the whole time my eyes are on her.

“So, how did you two meet?” I ask as I pass them both a drink.

She smiles and thanks me. “Online,” she admits, her cheeks pinching and Royce looks proud as punch as he swings his arm around the back of her.

“Yeah?” I ask, brows raised as I sit down on the small chair, sipping my drink.

“Yeah, I have worked in social media for a while. I reposted a photo I saw, and Royce slid into my inbox…” She looks at him as he is her world.

“The rest is history.” He smiles at her.

“How is it going to work with your races?” I find myself asking, kind of annoyed that I did.

“Where she can, she’ll come with me.” He takes a sip of his drink.

“That’s cool.” I nod.

“I was speaking to Royce before he got his seat… just in case you think…”

My eyes widen. “No, of course not, no.” I laugh softly as I place my glass down on the side table beside me. She pushes the blanket away from her legs, folding it and placing it beside her.The towel gets folded next. My eyes volley between the both of them and I gaze as his hand slips between her thighs, thumb rubbing over the dark sheer tights that are wrapped around her long legs. She is wearing a brown and cream cheque skirt and a cream long sleeved top. Her nails are done, and she accessorises with random, stacked, gold rings.

“Oh, good.” She drops her eyes from mine, one of her hands placed on her thigh before those beautiful blues flick up at me, and that’s when I felt the earth shift beneath my feet.

Sighing, I glance back down at her.

I want this to work, and I know I need to sit down and tell Royce eventually, but for now, I am focusing on this moment right here.

Rolling her over, I nestle myself behind her and drop my lips to her neck, smothering her with soft butterfly kisses until I wake her up and lose myself in her once more.

Chapter Twenty-Four

Anaïs

The next fewweeks pass in a blur. I put some distance between me and Creed, but he didn’t take it easy. He’s there in my periphery, but I push him away as much as I can. My plan didn’t work. Sleeping with him to get it out of both our systems did nothing to help either of us.

I still craved him, and it was clear he still craved me, but I couldn’t cross that line again.

I keep busy, and I’m buzzing for this weekend because Rue was visiting. We have a break this week before we head to Singapore, and Nora managed to score us a suite for the three of us.

Logging off my computer, my phone buzzes, and I smile when I saw Rue’s name flash.

“Hey, you okay?” I ask as I close my office door and drag my bag onto my shoulder, glancing at the delicate gold watch that sits on my wrist. It’s quarter past four.

“Yeah, just landed.” I hear her voice shudder. “It feels a lot cooler here.” She laughs.

“Welcome to autumn.” I smirk down the phone and clock out, walking towards the station.

“Who am I looking out for again?” she murmurs, and I can hear the hustle and bustle in the distance.

“Er.” I pause, pulling my phone from my ear and scrolling through my messages. “Someone called Clive. He will have a sign for you, anyway.”

“Okay, Clive,” she repeats.

“He will bring you to mine and Nora’s apartment. Thought we could grab dinner out tonight, if that’s okay with you?”

“That’s fine with me.”
