That was exactly the reaction I hoped for.

“What did I do?” I asked innocently.

I loved the way he flinched when I touched his body.

“You know exactly what you did,” Rocco said.

“Sorry. I don’t.”

“Is that so?” Rocco took his attention off the seatbelt and turned toward me, brushing his face against mine once more. “Not even a clue?” He brushed his face against mine again. “Nothing comes to mind?”

I shook my head since I seemed to have lost the ability to speak.

I swallowed hard as my breath hitched in my throat.

Two inches separated us, separated our mouths.

Maybe less.

Rocco inhaled slowly through his nose and whispered, “You’re wearing that perfume I like. Lavender. And something else. Is that vanilla?”

I nodded, still mute.

“I thought so,” Rocco said, moving his nose close enough to graze my neck as he inhaled again. “What that smell does to me, you have no idea.”

What you do to me, you have no idea, Rocco.

His breath was hot on my neck.

My heart was slamming against my rib cage.

He was teasing me and it was pure torture.

I wanted him to stop, but on the other hand, I wanted him to continue.

I closed my eyes and swallowed again, although it sounded like a big gulp.

Rocco eased away from my neck slightly, grinning, his gaze dropping to my mouth.

This was it.

There was no way he could resist me now.

If we weren’t careful, our chemistry was going to set the car on fire.

I licked my lips, teasing, tantalizing, wanting, anticipating, needing, practically begging him with my eyes.

He inched closer, still not making a move.

Rocco hovered in front of my lips, driving me even crazier.

He was waiting for me to kiss him.

I was waiting for him to kiss me.

Then Rocco’s eyes suddenly went blank.

He started moving in the wrong direction, away from me.
