I smiled. “No.”

“Are his good looks so incredibly distracting that you can’t do your job correctly?”

“Nope. Not that either.”

Ben chuckled. “Well then, I give up. What is it?”

“Okay, it’s kind of embarrassing, but . . . he never kisses me!”

“What?” Ben said. “I certainly don’t believe that. I bet he tries to kiss you, but you’re such a little Miss Eager Beaver, always beating him to the punch. Give the guy a chance!”

I stifled a laugh, knowing he had no plans on ending the charade.

I had no problem with that.

“I can’t help the fact that I’m a passionate woman,” I said. “When I see something I like, I go for it, unlikesomepeople I know.” I held in a laugh, pulled into the parking lot, and parked the car.

“Hey!” Ben said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s been trying togofor it forever, but you don’t give him a chance.”

“Ha!” I ran up the stairs to the second floor where the radio station was. “He had plenty of chances but failed to deliver,” I made it to the lobby, flew right by Debbie without saying a word, and went down the hallway toward the main studio.

“Why are you so out of breath?” Ben asked.

“I’m on an elliptical machine. Anyway, my coworker obviously doesn’t want me bad enough if he can’t even summon the energy to kiss me. Why should I do all the work? A woman wants to feel wanted.”

Ben chuckled. “You just wait until the next time he sees you. Something tells me he’s going to show you just exactly how much you mean to him.”

I pushed open the studio door and took a few steps inside the studio. “Show me now, Dr. Tough Love.”

I startled Ben so much he almost fell over.

His mouth was hanging open.

I disconnected the call and dropped my phone on the counter. “Well? Here’s your chance. Show me what you’ve got.”

Ben slipped off his headphones and approached me with nothing but heat in his eyes. Not hesitating, he grabbed me by the waist, pulled me against his body, dipped his head down, and gave me the kiss of my life, so intense my legs began to shake.

Then he pulled me even closer and deepened the kiss.

Ben finally broke off the kiss. “Wow.”

We were both out of breath as he rested his forehead against mine.

I nodded. “Yeah. Wow.”

He caressed the side of my cheek. “I love you.”

My eyes teared up. “I love you, too. I thought I lost you.”

“No way. I’m not going anywhere. We’re a team. Right, partner?”

I nodded and smiled. “Yeah. You and me, a team.” I shook my head in disbelief. “I can’t believe you played Air Supply for me. That was just the sweetest thing.”

Ben continued to hold me tight against his body, his eyes never leaving mine. “I would play twenty-four hours of Celine Dion just to spend one more minute with you.”

I reached up and kissed him, then patted him on the chest. “Yeah—nice try, but I don’t buy that.”

Ben chuckled. “That was a bit much, I agree.”
