Out on the street, we walk in silence for a bit but I can’t help it. I need to know. “So . . . she’s hot, right?”

Cam laughs, nodding. “She’s very beautiful.”

I have to ask. “Have you guys—”

“No,” he says softly. He’s weirdly quiet right now and I want to know what he’s thinking. “I haven’t hooked up with anyone since that guy.”

“Is that the night she was talking about?” Cam told me he’d gone for a walk late to think, but what he didn’t tell me was that he met a beautiful artist on his walk.

“Yeah. When I was walking home after the bar that night you met Noah.”

“The night you got a terrible blow job from that guy.” He glares down at me. “What? Trying to get a timeline.”

“Mean, Bo.” He chuckles. “And objectively, it was a good blow job. It just wasn’t for me.”

The thought of that man touching Cam makes me insanely jealous.Lucky!“Are you going to call her?”

Cam’s quiet for a moment, then he shrugs. “I’m happy right now.” He smiles a little. “I like what we have going. I like living with you. Not in a hurry, and maybe this is what I needed. I’m fine with being single for the time being.”

For the time being.

We turn down my street and I see a familiar car parked outside my apartment. Noah’s head is down, so he’s probably reading, but when he lifts it and sees me, he smiles. He gets out of his car, grabbing me in a hug, then takes the bag from me. “Hello, Gym Daddy.” He winks.

“Oh good, we’re still doing that.” Cam sighs. “Hello, Noah.” Cam takes my bag from Noah and walks up the steps with both. Noah follows us up. Inside my apartment Cam busies himself putting away the things we bought.

“What’s up?” I didn’t expect Noah to be here.

“Tonight we are celebrating Puck Daddy’s birthday, and as a gift he made me promise not to play strip poker. So instead, we reserved a table at Onyx and Iron, down on Montgomery. My friend Bri said it’s a queer-friendly bar and I want to try it out,”Noah says. “Do you guys want to come? Cam, you can meet Jamie. My man needs more friends. We’re going to have game night there.”

Montgomery Avenue is about a twenty minute walk, and if it’s as cold as it is now, I don’t want to know what it’ll be like later. “Yeah, that’s fine. I’ll drive if you want to drink, Cam. I have to work tomorrow anyway.”

“Uh, yeah. That sounds like fun.”

“So much fun!” Noah claps his hands. “Okay, great. Meet us down there around six. We’re going to have a great time. I’ve got the perfect game to play.” Noah gives me one last hug then waves bye to Cam. As fast as he came, whirlwind Noah is gone.

Cam looks at the door, shaking his head. “Should I be afraid?”

“It’s just Noah.” I think for a moment. “So yeah, you probably should be.”

Chapter 12

Cam

We’reluckyithasn’tdecided to snow. I’m a baby in the winter, and I hate driving in it, even a little. Pulling up to the small bar downtown, I find a parking spot across the street. Bo’s going to drive home because I think I’ll take him up on drinking tonight. I’m not a big drinker, but I’ve been on edge all day. I don’t even know why. “You ever been here before?”

“Oh, no, I haven’t. It’s bigger than the one we met the failed blow-job guy at.” He looks out the window, taking in the busy street in front of the bar.

This little ass. “Mean, Bo.”

“What?” He blinks innocently at me, a slow smile spreading across his lips. “Was he not the failed blow-job guy?”

“Don’t be mean. And it wasn’t failed. He very successfully blow-jobbed me. To completion in fact.” He grimaces. “It wasn’tbad, really it wasn’t. It wasn't for me.” It was not a skill issue. I wish I could say that night answered questions for me, but I don’t think that’s true.

Not that Bo needs to know that, because my mind is a mess and I’m not inviting him into thoughts I still don’t understand myself. Since he kissed me I can’t stop thinking about it. Things have gotten easier, and the weird tension between us is all but gone, but then I saw Amira earlier and something in me won’t stop thinking about the interaction between her and Bo.

Bo’s right, though.

Amira is pretty.
