# The best things come in threes

She wraps her fluffy red scarf around her neck and smiles sweetly. “Ready?”

I slide my hands over her hips and onto her ass, careful not to squeeze too hard given the spanking I just doled out. But she deserved that—every single time she did something to drive me purposely crazy at her parents’ house last night and again this morning. “How do you look so damn sweet and innocent when just half an hour ago you were bent over my lap, creaming all over my fingers while I spanked your beautiful ass?”

“I guess I’m just inherently those things,” she purrs, fluttering her long, dark lashes.

“Sweet, most definitely. Innocent, absolutely not.”

She gasps, feigning her outrage. “How dare you, sir?”

I press my lips against hers and kiss her, and she melts into my arms like she belongs there—which she absolutely does. “I will never get used to being able to kiss you whenever the hell I want.”

“I do enjoy being kissed whenever you want. But where exactly are we going when it’s Christmas and we have my entire apartment to ourselves.”

“We’re going to see our new house.”

“It’s your house, Chase. Even if I do move in.”

“It’sourhouse. Do you have no grasp of the laws of our country?”

“Yes. And property is nine tenths of it, apparently.”

“And as my wife, you’ll own half of whatever I do.”

She sputters, her eyes practically bugging out. “Your wife?”

“Your parents would probably be pissed if we’re not married when we have kids.”

The look on her face is priceless, a mixture of shock, amusement and indignation. “So, we’re having kids now too?”

“Why else did we buy the big house with the porch swing and enough room for kids and dogs?”

She grins wickedly. “And chickens.”

I kiss the tip of her nose. “Whatever you want, Firefly.”

Never in thehistory of time has there ever been anything more spectacularly joyous to watch than the look on Addie’s face when I open the front door of our new house and switch on the light. She steps into the hallway, mouth open as she heads straight for the staircase in the center, running her hands along the smooth, polished banister.

“Wow!” is the only word she utters for a full minute while she explores the downstairs area. That’s until she squeals with joy upon seeing the large, open-plan kitchen and living space at the back. “This place is beautiful, Chase. I knew it was gorgeous from the outside, but…wow!”

I walk up behind her, circling my arms around her waist. “You like it, baby?”

“I love it.”

“You wanna spend the rest of your life with me right here in this house?”

She spins in my arms, tears shining in her hazel eyes. “Are you sure this is what you really want, Chase? You have a whole life in LA.”

“No, I have a job in LA. But my whole life is right here, in my arms. I know you’re worried that I’m giving something up, but I’m really not, Addie. I’m finally getting everything I ever wanted. You were always meant to be mine, and we were always meant to be right here.”

“But what about the people in LA who care about you?”

I have a couple of friends in LA that I’ll miss, but I spent eight years without my three closest friends in the world, I’m sure we’ll all survive. “They can visit us, or we can visit them if you’d like. But every single person I love lives here in Juniper Ridge.”

“Will Faraday be coming?”

I can’t help but smile at her name for my car. “Yes, he’s being delivered next week, and he’s very excited to meet Angelina.”
