Trent’s out there, thinking he’s untouchable, but tomorrow night, we end him.

We’ll kill Trent for Billie, for the life he deserves, and to make right all the wrongs of this exploitative asshole’s existence.

I’m ready to lay it all on the line, even if it’s my last stand.

Chapter 23

Billie

I like this place.

The cabin was actually kinda cool.

But this is my kinda typical speed…

The penthouse living area is a cozy haven, the soft glow of fairy lights mixing with the city skyline twinkling through the floor-to-ceiling windows as evening wraps around us.

I’m sprawled on the plush rug with Luke and Richie, all of us in matching rompers—mine borrowed from Richie, pink with sparkly stars that make me feel like a kid at a sleepover.

We’re deep in our game, pretending to be the Little Guard, an elite squad on a top-secret mission to reclaim the kitchen’s treats from the Evil Daddies guarding them.

Luke is leading the charge, his blonde bangs bouncing as he crawls military-style toward the kitchen, his stuffy clutched under his arm like a secret weapon.

Richie’s right behind, his hair flopping over his eyes as he whispers our plan to steal the candy jar and the ultimate prize: the secret ice cream stash in the fridge.

“This is the best!” I squeal, my heart so light it feels like it could float away.

Felix is tucked into my romper’s pocket, his plush head peeking out like he’s our mission mascot, ready to storm the kitchen with us.

It’s so natural, being here with Luke and Richie, like we’ve been friends forever.

They get my Little side, the part of me that loves glitter pens and stuffies, the part I’ve had to hide from the world as Billie B.

After days of running from Trent’s betrayal, those men with guns, and all the fear this is exactly what I need—a chance to laugh, to play, to feel like I’m not alone.

I’ve loved my time with Max, but being with the boys is something real, something that I quite clearly needed too.

“Operation Candy Grab, commence!” Luke whispers, his voice all dramatic like we’re in a spy movie.

Luke holds up a finger, signaling us to follow, and we tiptoe across the rug, our giggles barely contained as we dodge imaginary laser traps.

I’m grinning so hard my cheeks hurt, my pop star life a million miles away.

Richie reaches the kitchen counter first, his nimble fingers snatching the candy jar filled with gummy bears, chocolate drops, and sour worms. He passes it to me with a triumphant grin, and I stuff a handful of gummies in my mouth, the sweet burst making me giggle even louder.

“Let’s build a den!” I suggest, my voice muffled by candy, my eyes sparkling with mischief.

We drag couch cushions to the corner, piling them into a fortress of pillows and fluffy blankets, our secret Little Guard headquarters. All three of us crawl inside, the candy jar nestled between us, and I feel like I’m ten again, safe in a world of my own making, far from Trent’s control and the paparazzi’s flash.

Luke and Richie snuggle close, their stuffies joining Felix in a plush pile, and I can’t stop smiling, my heart so full it aches.

“So, Billie,” Luke says, popping a chocolate drop in his mouth, his eyes twinkling with curiosity. “What’s Max like as a Daddy? Is he super strict or what?”

Richie leans in, all intent and keen to find out, his grin eager as he waits for my answer.

I blush, my cheeks heating as I think of Max—his stern voice when he’s keeping me safe, his warm smiles when he’s my Daddy.

“He’s firm, like, reallyfirm,” I say, giggling. “Like when he told me to stay low in town or when we had to run from the cabin, he’s all business, no messing around. But he’s so loving too. He sings me lullabies, holds me when I’m scared, makes me feel like nothing can touch me. He’s… perfect.”
