"Without the proper order of things, you won't survive the bite." Drake reached out and gently pushed my hair off my forehead. "Now we wait."
"For what?" But I didn't want to know the answer, I really didn't.
"To see if you make it through the next twenty-four hours." Even though his voice was soft and kind, there was an underlying threat.
"Get me to a hospital. Medicine."
"No doctor can help you know, Brook." He grasped my hand in his. "I'm so sorry."
Darkness feathered at the edge of my vision, and I choked out a breath. I didn't want to die. I wanted to live, damn it. Here I'd gone from missing my own wedding, to being bitten by a werewolf, and I wanted to know how running free would feel.
I clasped onto Drake's hand, willing whatever strength he could give me to carry me through this. But my vision only faded into an empty blackness with pain surging through every part of me until I felt like I was being torn apart. My scream echoed in my ears.

Ice froze in my veins as I struggled to wake. My eyelids were heavy and felt like sand had been rubbed inside them. I let out a hoarse groan and then my teeth started chattering.
“Easy, Brook,” Drake’s voice soothed. “You need to conserve your strength for the transformation.”
What? Oh hell no.There was no way I was going to turn into a wolf like Nathan.Damn him for biting me.
Another wave of coldness seeped into me.
“F-F-Freezing.” I managed to get out past my chittering teeth.
Warmth enveloped me and a spicy scent like cinnamon and cloves wafted in the air around me. Drake’s body pressed against mine and he wrapped his arms around my chest.
Several minutes later, I was still cold, but it was bearable.
I pried one eyelid open and looked around. We were back at the mansion. Just how long had I been asleep? They must have flow me and Nathan in the helicopter. There was no sign of Nathan in either human or wolf form. I let out a hysterical chuckle because I never believed I’d ever think something like that.
How long was it going to take my body to be over this wolf bite?
“I suppose you have questions.” Drake’s words puffed warm air against the back of my head.
“Yeah, you think?” I didn’t care if I sounded bitchy, I had a right to be after Nathan bit me.Oh no, would I have to get shots now?I hated needles. “He doesn’t have rabies, does he?”
Drake laughed, his body slightly shaking. “No, we wolves typically don’t get rabies.”
“We?” I squeaked out and tried to get away, but his arms held me to him like iron bars. I really, really hoped that him biting me didn’t automatically turn me into a werewolf too. That one part of werewolf lore wasn’t true.
“Where are you going to run to?” Drake nuzzled the back of my neck. “Last time you ran away, you and Nathan got attacked by a bear and you got hurled into our world fully. We wanted to break you in gently.”
“How?” My voice was hoarse.
He hesitated, inhaling deeply as he leaned against my back.
I elbowed him in the ribs, and he growled in the back of his throat. And instead of being terrified, like I should’ve been, I was suddenly excited. “How?” I repeated.
“Each of us was supposed to make you orgasm first.”
Liquid heat pooled low in my belly, and I shifted. My ass rubbed against his erection. I found though that I couldn’t move away, that I wanted him to want me. Cause God help me, I wanted him so bad it hurt inside. Which made no sense because I didn’t know him or the other two guys either.
Drake trailed his fingers down my arm. “Then one of us would be able to bite you when you orgasmed with one of us inside you, marking you. Becoming the Alpha of you... so to speak.”
His words both thrilled me and made me want to run for the door.
“Why me? I’m no one.”
