“I don’t know if I can,” I gasped, voice ragged and broken from the orgasm that had just rocked me.
Austin kissed me, teeth catching my bottom lip. “You will, Daisy. You will for me.”
I believed him. I’d try at least, because god if the man didn’t make me want to try even as my clit throbbed from overstimulation. Pleasure, heat, the sweet, sweet stretch of Austin’s cock in my cunt told me I’d be sore for days, but I didn’t mind it. The pain mingled with pleasure had always been the way with us. Sexual tension so thick you could cut it with an icing spatula par for the course when it came to Austin and I, but now it was let loose. It all had somewhere to go and it poured out of us, from our hands, fingertips gripping flesh, mouths and tongues exploring and warring, the soft exhalation mingled with groans of ecstasy.
It was then I understood the line between love and hate was infinitesimally small. The feelings I’d had for Austin had been balanced on a knife’s edge and I hadn’t even noticed but now? Now, I knew better. Now I had no mind to ever find myself on the opposite edge of that blade from Austin.
Now, I wanted him.
“Daisy,” he sighed against my mouth. Austin fucked into me harder, his breath just as ragged as mine and the coil of pleasure that had begun to rise, threatened to snap. He reached down between us, a thumb to my clit and pressed hard, the suddenness of it sending me into another orgasm that left me crying out his name. Austin wasn’t far behind as I pulled him tighter to me.
I pressed my cheek to his shoulder, still holding him when he lifted his head to look down at me. “Holy shit.”
I smirked up at him. “Definitely.”
Austin moved to the side of me and yanked me close to him, turning me on my side as he curled around me. “I need to just hold you. Is that okay?”
His question was odd but I nodded. “Of course it is, why are you asking me that?”
“Because I don’t want you to leave,” he whispered in my ear and I felt him brushing back the hair from my ear. “I just want this to go on forever.”
“Who says I’m leaving?” I asked, the question surprising even me. I was glad we weren’t facing each other so that he didn't see the confused look on my face.
“Daisy you’ve always wanted to leave Clarity, and with the money from the show you can.”
I bit my lip. He was right, I had. But that didn’t mean I needed to. I’d worked hard to make my bakery what it was. We were now a must-see destination for tourists. My dad was, well my closest friend and I had a social circle I enjoyed. Life in Clarity wasn’t bad. It was good, even if I had been too stubborn to see it, but even so, “Who says you have to stay?”
He chuckled, the low sound of it vibrating and pleasant against my back. It made me feel safe and I relaxed, settling back into his arms more snugly. “No one, I guess.”
“Would you do that?”
“Are you asking me to leave town with you?”
I was quiet but then I moved towards him. I needed to see him right now and I smiled at the hopeful look in Austin’s eyes. I’d convinced myself I hated his eyes, but I didn’t. I couldn’t imagine spending even a day without looking at them. I propped myself up on my elbow and looked down at him.
“Yeah, I guess I am. We just started getting along, you know? Seems a shame to waste that kind of progress if I decide to leave.” I traced my fingertip along his cheek and he turned to kiss it.
“It would be wasteful, especially when we have the entire town helping us fake a marriage. That’s got to mean something, right?”
“It has to and, well, I’ve got a question for you,” I said and grinned at him when he raised an eyebrow. “How would you feel if I asked you to date me, you know, after we’re done being married?” I asked, holding up my hand and flashing the gold band I still wore at him.
He caught my hand, pressing another kiss into my palm. “Only if you agree to be my girlfriend. I’m not the kind of man to leave a marriage for casual dating, Daisy.”
Outside the storm raged, wind rattling the windows as the snow fell deeper and deeper but inside the cabin we were in our own little world. Safe, happy, together.
“Yes, I’ll be your girlfriend, but only when we’re done being married.”
Austin smiled at me. “I can work with that, sweetheart.”

When I woke up the next morning it was to the still and calm that only followed a storm as big as the one that had hit us. I moved, sliding from the bed slowly so as to not wake Austin. The big man was sound asleep beside me and I paused beside the bed, smiling down at him. He looked peaceful in his sleep. I reached down, pushing his hair back from his face, fingertips tracing the strong line of his jaw before I stepped away and towards the small kitchen. I wanted to make breakfast to surprise Austin and seeing as I didn’t think Bunny and her crew were going to make it up this far any time soon, food seemed a good move. When we’d gotten dropped off here, I’d made a beeline for the kitchen which had taken me to the fridge and I knew for a fact there were all the makings of a solid breakfast inside: eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, there was even sliced fruit. I’d started on the bacon when I spied the coffee along with a canister of powdered creamer set on the counter beside the small coffee maker and I softened towards Bunny. The woman might be diabolical, but she was thoughtful and meticulous in her planning.
She’d made sure I had coffee out here, which I supposed meant I could forgive her for dumping me out here in the woods to battle it out bake off style against Austin. I set the coffee to brew and it was only after half a pot was done that Austin roused.
“Hey,” he mumbled sleepily, sitting up in bed. The covers slid to the side showing off his broad chest. I hummed in appreciation, eyes moving over his chest and down lower where the blanket was covering the thick thighs and more tantalizing parts of Austin that I wanted to see more of.
“My eyes are up here,” Austin teased, pulling my gaze from his blanketed lap.
