“Where’s home?” I repeated my question. Connie could fucking wait.

Honey licked her lips, eyes still on the door but a second later she looked at me. “Your place,” she said, voice still low.

“My place what?”

“Your place, I mean, your penthouse,” she began, but stopped when there was another rap at the door.

“They can wait,” I said, rubbing her back. I still had her hair twisted between my fingers and I gave it a slight tug, pulling her attention back to me, back to this moment and the words she’d been about to say.“They will wait.”

“It’s home,” Honey went on, eyes back on me and not the fucking door or whoever was making a goddamn racket now and banging on the door. “Wherever you are is home, but I-” she broke off again and looked down at her feet, “I think your place is home to me. It’s where I feel the safest. You’re home.”

Wherever you are is home.

“Fucking Christ,” I murmured, leaning in to kiss my girl. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her tight, lifting her up off the floor as I kissed her again. I squeezed her, her soft curves against me and soaked in that goddamn moment. This was the shit you carried with you for a lifetime, the sort of words, the kind of love that a monster like me should have never been allowed, but Honey gave it to me freely.

You’re home.

When we parted, I put her down and took her hand. “Come on, let’s get this fucking shit over with, and then we are going the fuck home.”

Chapter Twenty-Five

HONEY

I was anxious, but my body was calm. My mind had been a tornado of thoughts, of ‘what ifs’, and worst case scenarios. The room had stilled me some, but it had been hard to focus on much but the meeting with Zeus. I’d thought there would be time to settle into our suite, space for me to catch my breath and figure out the plan with Law. But that hadn’t been the case.

I’d been a nervous ball of energy. A wreck.

And then Law had taken me in hand and...it was quiet. My thoughts were still, my body loose, the hard lines and edges of my fears melted away under the touch of my Dom. I glanced over at him and smiled. He was straightening his tie as he walked towards the door. If I didn’t know what we were about to do I would have said Law was calm, without a fucking care in the world.

But I knew better.

Whoever was on the other side of the door was taking us to Zeus. Even if Law wasn’t anxious like me, he was on guard. The impassive expression on his handsome face was not what he was really feeling. Even so, he strolled to the door with me beside him, my hand loose in his.

He nodded at me, and I knew he was telling me he was opening the door. The gentle squeeze of his fingers had me nodding back.

“I’m ready.”

Law opened the door. Connie was on the other side and the woman looked pissed.

“What the fuck?” she said, arms crossed and glaring at Law. “I’ve been out here banging on this door for at least five minutes.”

“Had to finish,” Was all Law said and at that Connie smirked.

Her eyes flicked to me and she sighed with a shrug and a wave of a hand. “Hope you fucked her right. Girl deserves it, putting up with you.” I blushed and looked away when she raised an eyebrow at me as if she wanted me to answer her. Only Connie could make me blush like a teenager that got caught fooling around by her teacher.

Law chuckled. “I assume you’re here to take us to Zeus?” he asked.

Connie held my eyes for another second before she nodded and glanced at Law. “I am. Wouldn’t have anyone else do it.”

“Then lead the way. I want to get Honey to bed early. She’s tired.”

“Aren’t we all.” Connie turned on her heel and set off down the hallway. “Follow me,” she said, holding up a finger and crooking it over her shoulder at us as we walked. “We’ve kept Zeus waiting with your hanky panky shit. The man does not like to be kept waiting.” She looked over her shoulder, the shadows under her eyes more pronounced, reminding me of the fatigue I’d seen in her earlier. “You two share that little trait.”

Law hummed in response. “I’ll make sure to apologize when we meet.”

“See that you do. It’ll smooth it over. He’s...well, he’s-” Connie stopped, her eyes widening, and she looked ahead with a jerk of her neck. “Just see that you do.”

I bit my lip. What the hell was going on with Connie? I looked up at Law and saw that not even a muscle had changed in his face. It was like he hadn’t registered Connie’s near slip. She’d almost said something she wasn’t supposed to. That much was evident by her behavior, but Law continued on like nothing had happened.
