“We’re here.” Law’s hand brushed mine and my eyes shot open. He was watching me, but not in the soft-eyed way he normally did. The way I was used to turning and finding Law’s eyes on me. Attentive, warm, open, the look in his blue eyes always had me grinning and reaching for him. That wasn’t what was waiting for me there now that the car had stopped moving.

Now...

Now he was watching me like he had when we’d first met.

Calculating, cataloguing, like he was making a list of details and information in case he needed it.

I swallowed hard. “What is it?” I asked nervously.

He blinked and just like that the look vanished. The soft and steady gaze of my Daddy was back on me. “What’s what, princess?”

“You-” I began but then shook my head. “Nothing.”

Law frowned, his hand pressing down, covering mine. “What is it?” he asked, “And I’m not going to ask you again, princess. You know the rules between us.”

I was silent for a beat, but there was no mistaking the tone in Law’s voice. The drop in octave that always had me squirming and wanting him to touch me. There was no lying between us. That foundational rule hung over us now, and I knew if he touched me it wasn’t going to be in the fun way I wanted him to.

I’d be getting spanked.

Although a spanking was its own kind of fun too…

“I just wish I was wearing this dress to a special night. For my first time wearing it, and not this.” I looked out the window, the window tint was so dark I couldn’t see anything, knew that it went both ways and that if anyone tried to see us they’d be met with the same inky expanse I was staring at right now. “I’m scared to go in there, Law.”

Law’s hand left mine and came up to my chin. His fingers were gentle when he turned my head to face him. “I’m not Law anymore. Not here,” he said. “What am I when we are here?”

“Daddy,” I whispered, the title falling from my lips as easily as breathing.

“And does Daddy let anything happen to his little girl?” he asked.

I shook my head. “No, never.”

“Are you safe with Daddy?”

I nodded immediately. “Yes.”

“You’re always safe with Daddy, princess. There is nothing to be scared of going into the club tonight. You’re protected. I’m here with you.” He rubbed his thumb against the curve of my bottom lip and leaned in, kissing me gently. “I’m not going to let anything happen to you. We are here to get information from Zeus and enjoy ourselves, so this is a special occasion, princess.”

My eyes widened. “We are going to play tonight?”

He inclined his head. “Of course we are. I’m going to be doing all the work tonight. We are going to let Zeus come to us, and hewillcome to us, princess. We are going to let it play out, but you are safe–that means we play.”

I bit my bottom lip, unsure of how to process that. I’d thought we were coming here strictly to gather information, not play, but Law was right. I was safe with him. He had never, and would never, let anything hurt me.

I was safe.

“Okay, Daddy.”

Chapter Twenty-Two

LAW

Honey followed me into the club, her hand in mine and I squeezed her fingers tight. I knew she was nervous. Could practically feel it radiating off my sweet girl with every fucking step we took into the club, but she kept walking forward, following dutifully after me all the same.

My girl was strong. She was fierce and made of iron when she needed to be. She was spun of sugar and delicate like those fucking chocolate desserts chefs whipped up in ritzy restaurants and charged an arm and a leg for. Gossamer and steel.

I turned my head to look at her and my chest tightened with the weight of pride. Honey’s head was up, her eyes forward, even when I felt her squeezing my fingers tight my girl didn’t falter. If you didn’t know her, you’d think she was relaxed and at ease, but I knew different. I knew she was scared and nervous, but she wasn’t showing it.

Okay, Daddy.
