“There isn’t enough time, Stevie.” She kissed his face and pulled his hand back up, pressing a kiss into his palm.

“Gotta take care of you,” he mumbled, blinking slowly, his eyes still glazed from his orgasm.

“Later,” Jordyn told him, hugging him to her. When he started to protest, she said, “Watching you orgasm was enough. You’re absolutely gorgeous.”

Steve let out a rush of air and shook his head slowly at her. “Don’t say things like that, doll, or I’ll bend you over and make you late for work.”

“Ohh, well a girl can hope,” she whispered.

He groaned, his hands tight on her waist. “Jordyn…” Steve warned, drawing back to look at her. “I’m serious.”

“So am I,” Jordyn said, challenging him, and for a minute she thought he was going to do exactly as he threatened, but his eyes darted to the clock by his bed, and he frowned.

“You’re lucky that I care about you being late to work,” he said, getting up from the bed.

“You could just be quick again…” she pouted, following him up with a sigh. His back was to her when she bent to grab her clean clothes from her bag, but she jerked up straight with a yelp when he slapped her ass.

“Steve!” Jordyn gasped, turning to look at him with wide eyes.

“I warned you, doll.” Steve shrugged, rubbing his hand gently against the spot he’d just spanked. “And I’m going to make good on bending you over tonight.” He gave her ass another spank and smirked at her when she jumped again.

“Hey,warn me the next time your girl decides to let out an Oscar-worthy scream.” Jamie told Steve when he popped his head around the canvas divider that partitioned their workstations.

Steve laughed and held his hands up. “Can’t help it if she’s vocal when she's enjoying herself.”

“We’re going to need a shatterproof coffee pot if she keeps making noises like that.”

“Wear earplugs,” Steve countered. He looked up from his sketchbook to see Jamie rolling his eyes. His friend gave him a mock glare before he said, “I’m glad you brought her home.”

Steve stopped in surprise at his friend’s words, because Jamie looked happier than Steve had seen him in a long time.

“Nice nickname,” Jamie added, and Steve froze for a second.

He cleared his throat.“Thought it was time I used it,” he explained, knowing why Jamie was looking at him like he wasn’t going to stop grinning anytime soon. “Doll” had been his father’s pet name for his mother, and Steve’s memories of them were peppered with the endearment. As far as Steve was concerned, if anyone deserved the nickname, it was Jordyn.

Jamie nodded, stepping back and then pointing at him. “Hey, I’m entertaining tonight, so do me a favor and disappear.”

“Oh, so just like that I get kicked out of the house?” Steve asked, feigning shock.

“Yeah, take a hike, Ryans. Some of us don’t have a girlfriend to crawl into bed with whenever we want,” Jamie tossed over his shoulder, going back to his station.

Normally, Steve would have stopped Jamie from saying anything like that, but he didn’t this morning. Instead, the word girlfriend put a smile on his face because it was Jordyn, and there was no lie in what Jamie had said.

Chapter Twenty-One

“So…Steve, huh?”Tina asked Jordyn, chewing on her pen.

A few minutes before, Jordyn had hopped off Steve’s bike and rushed into the office, her face flushed and eyes bright. Tina hadn’t missed the look on her co-worker’s face or the scene through the glass-fronted clinic, showing how Jordyn had only taken a few steps from Steve before turning to rush back and throw her arms around him for a last kiss goodbye.

“Hmm?” Jordyn looked up from the charts she was pulling for the day’s appointments.

“Steve,” Tina said again, putting her pen down. “I finally figured out where I know him from.”

“Oh?” Jordyn swallowed, trying to sound casual, but she was suddenly worried and curious as to where Tina knew Steve from. What if they’d slept together? The thought was like a gut punch, but she forced her face to stay calm and smiled at Tina.

“Yeah, that club over in Bridgemont. Widow's Bite.” Tina leaned back in her seat.
