“Who the fuck are you?”

Dylan, standing in my doorway, stared at Grant, who had a downright murderous look on his face.

“Doesn’t matter who I am. I know who you are, and you aren’t welcome here.”

Dylan raised an eyebrow. “Oh, is that so? Did my wife tell you that?”

“Ex-wife,” I corrected, pointing a finger from behind Grant.

Grant cracked his knuckles, eyes on Dylan. “Get down to my apartment, sweetheart,” he rumbled.

“Get the fuck over here, Aurora,” Dylan ordered.

“No,” I responded to both men.

Grant raised an eyebrow, but kept his eyes on Dylan, who let out an angry cry. “What that hell, Aurora?”

“You heard me,” I replied, crossing my arms and shooting them a glare. “I’m not going anywhere, but you are.”

“Who?” Grant asked, and a smile pulled at my lips.

“The both of you,” I told him with a determined lift of my chin. Grant’s eyes widened, but I noticed he stepped back and gave me a nod.

“Okay,” he said.

“Bullshit,” Dylan snapped. He narrowed his eyes on me and took a menacing step forward. “Aurora, I’m tired of this shit. You’ve had your fun, and now it’s time to come home.”

His harsh words ignited a previously dormant supernova of rage in me, one that had burrowed so far deep in me, sank its teeth so quietly into my bones, that I didn’t even realize I’d carried it with me across state lines.

“I’ve had my fun?” I said, and pushed my way around Grant. “I’ve had my fun?!” I asked again, voice rising, and before I could stop myself I lunged at Dylan. “Leave me alone! I hate you and everything you’ve done to me. Why won’t you just let me go?!”

“Shit.” Grant’s eyes went wide and he caught me mid-lunge. He pulled me back against him while I aimed a wild kick in Dylan’s direction.

Damn the man, damn him and his perfect hair, his tailored suit, and every last tender memory I’d ever made with him. I wanted him gone quick, fast, and in a hurry.

“I am so tired of you!” I jabbed a finger at him as I hung from Grant’s arms. “Why are you here? Do you know how much of a lunatic you are?”

Too bad Grant showed no signs of letting me go so I could be free to exact my revenge.

“You’re mine, that’s why I’m here,” Dylan said. “We have years together and you don’t just get to throw all of that away because you decided to have a tantrum.” He took a step toward me and Grant turned, dropping me behind him.

“Stay there.” Grant held a hand up to Dylan as he approached. “She’s done with this.”

“Who the fuck are you?” Dylan asked, coming up short when he came close to Grant’s outstretched hand.

“It doesn’t matter who he is! I’m the one telling you to get lost.” I jabbed a finger over Grant’s shoulder and struggled to get past the hand still pushing against my waist to hold me back. I slid to the side of Grant’s arm and glared at Dylan. “I’m getting a restraining order against you! Do you understand that?”

As if summoned, Mrs. Reynolds appeared in her doorway and regarded the three of us. “Is everything okay?”

“Yes, everything’s fine,” Dylan said, giving the older woman his winning smile, but I wasn’t about to let him smooth the situation over. I was done letting Dylan controlanysituation.

“No! Everything is not fine,” I told Mrs. Reynolds with a wave of my arm. “He’s been stalking me. Call the police!”

The older woman’s mouth dropped open at my outburst and she put a hand to her chest. “Oh my.” She backed away, but not before I saw her pull a cellphone from her pocket and begin to dial.

“You will most certainly not call the police,” Dylan blurted out, which only made me aim another withering glare in his direction.

“I’ll do whatever the hell I want,” I said with a jab of my finger, and then I added, “and so will Mrs. Reynolds.”
