I needed West.

. . .

This was like, the second time we had a roommate intervention with Church because of George. The first time, I didn’t join in because he didn’t do anything wrong. I mean, yeah, I thought he should just go talk to her instead of creeping in trees, but that girl was special. You didn’t want to make a dumbass of yourself on the first impression and ruin it. Church nearly did because he was creeping in trees instead oftalkingto her, but she was just insanely cool like that.

We were having the second intervention because he legitimately was being a dumbass this time. The dude found out his girl was a god and ran instead of immediately falling on hisknees and worshipping her. I mean, she would havehatedthat, but not as much as it would have hurt her the way he actually reacted.

“She could have kept her secret and let one of the other gods heal me, but I would have been in pain much longer. Fuck, Drake. If that was just your hair, Ineverwant to experience your venom. I didn’t think anything could hurt worse than when that Earth ball exploded near my face and I lost my hearing, but that was so much worse.”

Yeah, I didn’t want to think about that. Oscar was my brother, and Drake was becoming a pretty good friend. He was my boyfriend in law now. If there hadn’t been a god in the room, Oscar could have been permanently disfigured. And Drake had been violated when Kaylee stole his hair. He’d been paranoid about that this entire time.

Church was the only one of us angry about her secret, but I think Oscar and Ren would have been, too, if they found out she kept it while Oscar was in pain like that. I’d known her secret this entire time and the reason she was keeping it, but I might have felt some things, too, if she watched Oscar suffer when she could fix it.

“Ihatethat if someone was going to make a potion with my hair, they had to use it on people I care about.”

“What’s the deal, anyway?” Ren asked. “She’s still the same person. You knew she was insanely powerful. We’ve been around enough gods to have figured out that she feels exactly like them. George wasn’t faking it when she was nervous about having sex with us for the first time or when West got her on her back in magical combat. Theonlything that’s changed about her is that you know she’s not a witch now.”

It was that part for me. I figured it out, and I wasn’t the smartest person in the room ever. If I was, you should probably worry about the room. We’d been around enough gods to knowthey were mostly like regular people, just a lot more powerful. And George was still young enough to be kind of awkward. I loved that about her.

“It’s not that she’s a god. It’s because?—”

We didn’t get to finish our intervention because my phone went off. It was our girlfriend, and she needed us at Azren’s cabin. She said it was an emergency and with everything going on, Church was going to have to wait. Or he could nut up and come with us.

“Look, bro, she asked for us, and with everything going on, we should be there for her. You can stay here and pout, or you can get over it and come.”

“She’s got Azren. What does she need me for?”

Was Church fucking serious? She’d had Azren this entire time. Pretty sure she had Church and me first. Why was that a problem now?

“Yeah, she’s got Azren, dickhead. She still asked for us. George has been a god this entire time, and she still picked us. Get over it,” Ren snapped.

“Iknowit doesn’t make sense. I just need time. Go without me.”

Bethany had mostly left Church’s nuts alone since we got back from Yule break. She must have gotten over him calling the ghosts dicks. The ghosts might not be willing to tell George and Azren who was doing this, but they knew they were working together to stop the murders. If you got to know George and didn’t get petty about how powerful she was, she was a great girl.

Bethany must have been feeling pretty protective of George because she chose that moment to fly out of the floor and assault Church’s sack again.

Honestly, he had it coming that time.

. . .

George didn’t come get us for a little celestial travel. Iwas notathletic, like my boyfriend, girlfriend, and some of the other men she was dating. That said, I could totally walk my adorable three tails across campus to Azren’s cabin. I’d barely even had time to show off my new tail because we were trying to talk sense into Church. But tomorrow, everythingwas going to be about my new tail.

We left Church on his bed, cupping his balls. I honestly felt bad about the full-frontal assault to his nuts when he just insulted the ghosts, but he kinda had it coming this time. I was guessing ifwecouldn’t talk sense into him, getting his nutspunched by a spirit until he realized George being a god didn’t matter was a pretty good lesson.

We started off towards Azren’s cabin when I saw that fucking bear shifter again. It felt good stealing his shoes. Especially when he pitched such a tantrum about it. But he was being a turd again, and he was sporting even more expensive sneakers on his feet. Still, George needed us and I could ignore him. At least, I planned on it until he got right up in our business.

“Bro, what’s it like to fuck a god? Does her pussy make you lucky?”

Rude. I used the new fire powers I got with my new tail to set those ridiculous sneakers on fire right as West punched him right in the face. A lot of people just assumed West was this easygoing lion because he was always goofing off, but West was the Spanish Inquisition if you pissed him off. That fucking bear shifter was trying to stop his nose from bleeding and put out the fire on his new shoes.

We just left him there and kept going. West clapped me on the back.

“Can I tell you that I adore the fact that you’ve used your new fire powers to light two bitches up?”
