“Eat up, Ripley. It’s best when it’s fresh and hot. The episode is about to start.”
“Where are the actors?” Chaos asked, licking vinegar from his fingers.
“Watch the screen upfront,” I said, grabbing the remote.
I realized something. I was havingfun.I was about to expose a primordial god to the wonders of British television, and all he had to do was snap his fingers to bring us all food from London. I was just dying to see how he’d react to television. I would never tell him this to his face, but I thought his reaction to our werewolf erotica was adorable. I got them out of there before he could finish, but I seriously wanted to see the looks on those asshole wolves' faces when he demanded to know the truth about their cocks.
Maybe I should get to know him better instead of just figuring out how to keep him hidden. He was undoubtedly trying, and he was kind to Felix. And he was just so fucking cute with his Oreos and iced coffee mowing his way through the werewolf porn.
Chaos gasped when the screen lit up and then fell out laughing.
“This century is intriguing. You mean you can watch this again if you like it? Exactly as it is?”
Felix had been a little #teamchaos well before he got his body back and fish and chips delivered by magic. He seemed to be all aboard that train now.
“We should do a re-watch from the beginning so he can get the full experience.”
I was okay with that. Chaos was here now because of me. He might be a god, but he still had feelings, or so I thought. I had been mean to him and treating him like this dirty little secret I didn’t want getting out.
Chaos couldn’t be contained. Stronger people than me had tried. I didn’t have any hope of keeping this a secret. But I could be kinder to him since he was trying, and I could get to know him now that I accidentally brought him back.

y familiar was a snake, and I pretty much gave zero shits about who feared them. I went everywhere with Orion draped across my shoulders. I was sure the librarian was going to be a fussy old biddy who shrieked when she saw him, but she couldn’t kick me out because she was scared of Orion. She’d still have to let me apply for a library card. After that, it was just up to the magic.
I kicked the door open and strolled inside. I went to the main desk. There was a huge, ornate golden bowl in the center and a stack of tarot cards. I didn’t see the librarian. Just a scorching sexy woman decked out in tight black leather.
“Where’s the librarian?” I growled.
She just leaned back in her chair and looked at me coolly. Idid nothave time for this.
“You’re looking at her.”
“Way to go, dumbass,”Orion hissed.“You hate people judging you because of your family name and that ridiculous bun you insist on wearing on your head, and you just assume the librarian can’t be hot.”
I knew exactly how to fix this. I was a bitter asshole, but I could turn on the charm when needed. I rested my hands on the table and looked down at her.
“Sorry. I wasn’t expecting the librarian here to be beautiful like you.”
“You either don’t have a library card, or you haven’t been here in a few years since I got hired.”
“I’m here to apply for a card.”
“Do you know how this works? Your blood goes into the bowl, and it’ll tell me if you’re approved and for what areas. If you’re denied, the magic here will physically remove you from the library.”
Well, that was a bitch, and probably painful; but I wanted this library card, and it wasn’t just because of that tarot deck I drew. I had stolen my college education from me because of my family’s past. Iwantedaccess to these books so I could learn things I had every right to know.
I knew it was a longshot, but I had to try. I grabbed the athame and slashed my palm. The librarian was just staring and frowning.
“What the actual fuck is going on around here?” she muttered.
“I haven’t been escorted out the building by magic. Is that coming, or did I pass?”
“You were approved, and you have access to all areas.”
