I’ll explain once I get there. I’m crossing this creepy bridge now.

Putting my phone in my pocket, I walk the rest of the way to the house. Opening the front door I step inside and see multiple girls milling around. They pay no mind to me as I walk up the stairs and into Syd's room. Swinging the door open I see her sitting on the bed tying her shoes. I huff and roll my eyes flinging myself onto her bed. I just need a fucking minute.

“You good babe,” she asks, laying beside me.Am I good? The verdict is still out.

“Meh, I’ve been better. Let’s go look for our bestie and talk about the shit show of a morning I had.” I huff, sitting up. She does the same and walks to her bathroom. Pulling out my phone I check to see if I have any messages from Hayes. Disappointmentfloods my veins. I really hoped he’d come chasing after me or at least text me but nothing. I got nothing.

“I’m ready to endure the cold and snow. Let’s go babe.” She says with a grin and we leave her room taking the stairs two at a time. Some of the girls are still sitting around and Syd stops to ask if they’ve seen Kendall today but no one has seen her. I shake my head as we leave the house, down the path and over the creepy bridge.

“If she’s not with Lucius, where else could she be?” I ask, but she shrugs.

“I’m not sure. I don’t know of any other guy she’s been messing with. This is not like her. Something has to be wrong.” She says linking her arm through mine as we walk aimlessly trying to figure out where she could possibly be. “Hey, are you good? You seem checked out today. Your vibe is off,” She adds and I sigh.

“Nope, I am not okay. Me and Hayes were having a great time. I was finally fucking happy. Then, we go to leave campus and head to town. Boom, a blast from my past comes blowing in–my fucking boyfriend from back home, is standing at the wooden doors.” I tell her and she pulls us to a stop.

“Wait, what? I didn’t even know you had a boyfriend, Jesus.” She says, completely shocked by the revelation. I take my hand covering my face from embarrassment.

“Ugh, I know and I don’t even know where to start. There’s a lot to unpack here but let’s put a lid on this conversation and come back to it after we find Kendall.” I tell her as we get to the front of the sports center. Walking in we split up and I search the locker room finding it completely empty. Huffing I leave the same way I came in and meet Syd by the exit doors.

“Anything?” I ask but she shakes her head.

“Nothing. Let’s see if her car is still here in the parking lot." She suggests and I nod. We walk towards the front gate and greet Neal the guard.

“Ladies, where do you think you are going?” he asks and Syd smiles at him.

“We are just looking to see if our friend's car is still in the lot. We aren’t going anywhere, promise.” She tells him as she opens the doors and we walk through them. Her phone goes off a few times, halting her movement but I still keep looking around for any signs of her. I’m sure if she was out here Neal would’ve told us or at least seen her. Something purple catchesmy eye and I look down just beyond the curb seeing Kendall's phone. I gasp, which gains Syd’s attention.

“What the fuck? Her phone is here, but she’s not? This better not have anything to do with the weird shit that goes on at this school right? People dying and disappearing for no reason,” She questions, her voice cracking from the emotion spewing through her.

“Cameras? There’s gotta be cameras in this place.” I say looking at her for the answers knowing she doesn’t have them. We are both blind here–trying to play detective and it’s not working out so well. We turn around and head back through the doors. I follow behind Syd because she knows this place better than I do. We enter the school and up the stairs. “Where are we going?” I ask as we come to a stop and she points up. The sign reads “Head Masters Office,” and my eyes widen. I turn the knob and it doesn’t budge.

“Well there goes that plan,” I huff and she rolls her eyes.

“Calm down. I know a few tricks,” she smiles, taking a bobby pin out from her hair and slides it into the little hole on an angle then boom she turns the knob and wala it opens.

“How the hell did you learn to pick a lock?” I ask, completely stunned by this.

“Oh, Liv. There’s a few things you don’t know about me. But in due time babe.” She chuckles but then brings her finger to her mouth to shush us quietly as we walk into the room.

“We are definitely going to get infractions for this if we get caught. Let’s hurry this up.” I tell her, looking around nervously but she looks at me trying to hold back a laugh. I roll my eyes as she walks towards the desk and sits down in front of the computer. Her fingers fly over the keyboard but everything is password protected. Before I can even say anything her fingers are flying once again so fast over the keyboard then seconds later the screen lights up and we’re in.

What feels like hours but has only been minutes, we scan through the camera footage not finding a god damn thing. Her phone vibrates against the desk and she picks it up to read the message and gasps.

“Well she’s not with Lucius.” She says and I raise a brow. “He’s dead,” and my mouth drops and my heart pings in my chest.

“What the fuck, Syd?” I say, completely shocked by this news but voices echoing from somewhere inthe building has us moving our asses. She closes out all the tabs and shuts the computer down then we slip out of the office quietly making sure the door is locked behind us. We leave the second floor in the opposite direction that we came in and leave through the side door just beyond the cafeteria. I really need to suck it up and go talk to Hayes. I know he’s here. I can feel the pull the minute we pass his wing and if what Parker says is true then he needs me. I look over at Syd and frown.

“I’m not trying to brush you off or leave you alone to do this but the guys need us. There is nothing on the cameras that we could see. Maybe she will turn up but for now I gotta go talk to Hayes. He deserves to know the truth.” I tell her and she nods.

“Girl, go get your man. I’mma head to Parkers. Plus I need a damn minute,” She admits and I pull her into a hug, squeezing her tightly. She reciprocates then we walk in opposite directions.

I get to Hayes’ room in no time and pound on the door, but no one answers so I slide to the floor and sit against the wall and wait. Taking out my phone, I see I have a missed text. Opening the screen my heart falls.

Dillon:

Sweetness, why did you run? I fucking missed you! You have some explaining to do! I’m in room 4-C. Come see me.

I got to write out a message when I hear giggling coming from down the hall. My head snaps up and I see a new blonde wrapped around my fucking man. I stand and narrow my eyes as they get closer. I can see Hayes is not himself. He can’t even walk straight. His red eyes finally collide with mine and he smirks.
