If she’s not in the gardens, she might be in the woods.
Movement at the tree line pulls me up short, and I see Cam and Raven coming out of the woods, shoulder to shoulder.
Her laughter drifts through the air like a blade to the ribs and my jaw tightens seeing them together.
Cam spots me first, and the bastard grins, smug as ever. “You really need to keep an eye on your house guests. Found this one wandering barefoot in the trees.”
Of course he did.
A muscle ticks in my jaw, but I don't take my eyes off her. My dick goes hard instantly, but I ignore it. Now clearly isn't the time.
I watch Cam lean in and whisper something to her, and she smacks his arm, and her face looks completely unguarded as her laughter fills the air.
She looks right at me, and there's something on her face—there and gone in a flash. If I weren’t already so attuned to her every move. I would’ve missed it.
She clears her throat, pretending like she didn’t just look at me like that.
“Kane.” She smiles, her teeth catch on her bottom lip, and my thoughts are instantly fucking derailed.
That mouth has been a problem since the first time she opened it. I've thought about it around my cock, dragged open beneath my teeth, and silenced with every filthy thing I want to do to her. But I shove it down. Not here. Not now.
I force my voice to stay even and unaffected. “Hey, Princess. How’d you sleep?”
She swallows, and my eyes follow the movement. The way her pulse jumps too fast tells me she's flustered. Good. Let her feel it—every ounce of what she does to me.
“Good!” She says too quickly. “I just wanted to get some fresh air.”
Something about her looks different, and yet she's exactly the same. Her hair’s a mess, spilling over her shoulders, and her skin is flushed. And that damn dress clings to her in ways that make my hands itch to drag her against me until she forgets her own name.
Fuck.
I should’ve never invited Cam over this early.
Scotland suits her. Too damn well.
“I was just coming to find you.” My voice is neutral, but my thoughts? Not even fucking close. “Breakfast is ready if you want to eat.”
I can see the heat flash in her eyes, as she shifts on her feet. Knowing that I’m getting to her is making it really hard to keep my dick in check.
The second we step into the castle, she stops, looking up. She drags her hair back behind her ear, and I can see the nerves written all over her face. “I’m going to freshen up.”
Her eyes stay on mine a little too long before she smiles—daring me to break first. I don't. I watch her turn, hips swaying like she knows I won't look away.
By the time she disappears around the corner, my blood is boiling, and my body's tense with a need I can’t shake. A chuckle behind me drags my attention around.
“All right there?”
The bastard is grinning.
I turn, pinning him with a sharp look. “Fine, thank you.” He knows better than to push, but here he is, doing it anyway. “Why are you here so damn early?”
“You quite literally asked me to come this morning and personallycock-blockyou. Said it was to keep your head on straight, remember?”
Motherfucker.
“You’re fucking lucky Raven is here, or I’d beat your ass right now.” The growl rolls out before I can stop it, edged with warning.
Cam, smug as ever, dodges the swing I throw at him. Pity. Landing that would’ve made me feel a hell of a lot better.
