I still couldn’t bring myself to look at him.

He reached out and touched my hand and I felt my powers flare bringing his ankle an instant healing like never before.

I turned to look at him. “Did you feel that?”

“Warm. It just felt warm.”

“No, when you touched me, my powers spiked.”

He nodded. “That’s normal for true mates.”

“Then why didn’t Kyle help Kelsey?”

“Because she would have drained him of his Alpha powers and left the Pack vulnerable. They’re a unique pair. She has to hold back careful not to pull too much of his powers through their bond even.”

“You know about her? About healers?”

“Of course I do. Is that what you’ve been scared to tell me? Lucy, I’m not afraid of you being a witch. Are you kidding? Having a second healer around here would make my life a million times easier.”

He gave me a sad look and I saw the hurt still evident in his eyes.

“Are you hurt anywhere else?” I asked him.

“Is that a trick question?”

The stab of guilt that shot through my heart was unexpected and completely justified.

Kyle walked over. “Hey, good work out there. Are you okay, man?”

“I’ll be fine,” Micah said. “How’s Kelsey holding up?”

Kyle got a strange look on his face and his eyes sort of glazed over and then he burst out laughing.

“Um, let’s see, mind your own business and heal quickly. She’s fine.”

He groaned. “Thanks for editing that for me. I’ll check on her before I head home. Did we get everyone?”

“Yes, all’s accounted for. I’m sending people home and this area is closed until further notice. I’ll be issuing a full Alpha order on that today.”

“Good idea. I’m glad everything worked out. Oh, wait, how’s the kid I pulled out?”

“Doing well, thanks to Lucy. Kels says she couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you.”

My cheeks burned at the Alphas praise. “You’re welcome,” I managed to say.

I helped Micah to his feet, flourishing in the feel of his touch.

“You’re really just okay with me being a witch?”

“Lucy, how many times do I have to tell you that there is absolutely nothing in this world that would make me not want you. I love you.”

I stared at him in shock, as I stumbled.

A man reached out and steadied me. Much to my surprise, Micah didn’t even growl at him.

“Easy there, young lady. Are you the healer who saved my son’s life?”

“Maybe. Is he the one with the shattered arm?”
