We stood there like that, pressed against the closet door as I tried to regain some sense of composure. Never had I imagined our mating quite like that, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Micah finally leaned back to look at me. He gave me a big grin.

“Missed you,” he said, with a quick peck to my lips.

I laughed. “Missed you, too.”

“Are you okay?”

I smiled reassuringly. “Never better.”

It suddenly dawned on me that the house around us was quiet.

“Is there a dampener in here?” I asked.

“No, why?”

“It’s just oddly quiet.”

We redressed and hand-in-hand walked back out to the living. There was no one in the house. I heard them nearby though and tugged Micah along as we walked to the backyard where everyone was hanging out.

“What’s going on?” I asked Susan.

Tarron just laughed.

“Next time you want some alone time, just say so. You didn’t have to scent up the entire house to make your point.”

Micah groaned.

“You didn’t!”

“There was an entire special forces team of unmated males in my house. What did you expect?”

“Did you at least seal the deal?” Silas yelled out.

Everyone was watching us as my mouth fell open and my cheeks burned.

Cheers went up all around as Micah responded.

“Hell yeah, I did! This one’s mine forever.”

“Time to wake up, birthday girl,” I whispered.

Vada groaned and stretched. She was sleeping well these days. The nightmares subsided for the time being.

We were all settled into the house and into our new routine. I loved waking up every morning with Lucy in my arms, but then I would leave her to sleep as I awoke our daughter for some quiet time with her each day.

Today was a big day and I couldn’t wait to start it.

“Birfday? It my birfday, Doc?”

“Yes, big girl. You’re officially three today.”

She gasped and then clapped, going from groggy to wide awake in about two point six seconds.
