I grin at Hemi and feel a rush of love. I owe Daisy a lot for telling me I had to house him for his leave. Maybe I will send her a gift registry. We aren’t engaged. Yet. But I have a ring in my suitcase, and I may have accidentally found one in Hemi’s.

The reporters scramble to ask questions, but Alex cuts in, “We won’t be discussing anything else about our player’s personal relationships, but if you have questions about the game, we’re happy to answer,” swiftly guiding them away from Hemi.

I watch Hemi’s shoulders relax, and he attentively answers anything that isn’t about us.

They wrap up the conference quickly, and Hemi appears in front of me. His hands cup my cheeks, and he murmurs, “I love you,” before kissing me while cameras flash around us.

The video circles news sites and social media for weeks, and the photo becomes my screensaver.

That is, until Charlie snaps a photo of Hemi down on one knee in front of the Eiffel Tower, holding a ring.

That bad boy will be on my screen until the wedding.

We’re thinking spring.
