“I’ll need you to call me mistress for now on, and I require an extensive altar for worship in one of the main rooms.”
“You got it.”
I stifled a laugh. “Joking, Leslie.”
“Who says I am?”
I patted his chest. “Maybe replace it with the anime sex dungeon."
“Good idea.”
Dom shook his head, typing it out. Unable to help it, I broke out in laughter.
EPILOGUE
Eight months later
The rain had stopped if only briefly, the clouds breaking way out in the distance, allowing the sunset to make an appearance. From the window I stared at the lights of the city, taking a sip of the champagne in my hand. I make out my reflection, the slim black dress that covers my knees, hugging my figure around the waist, silver earrings dangling from my ears, my hair half-up in a fancy style, and a green sash with black lettering that reads “Birthday Baddie”, compliments of Leo. The music vibrated against the glass, people talking loudly around me.
I looked over as people hollered. Miranda, with her spikey-haired girlfriend named AJ, were taking shots with Leo and some of the gang. The party was in full swing, and people were getting hammered a lot faster than me which was pretty impressive. Then again, I decided to pace myself, to keep my head on straight for at least more than half the party, but in reality, I knew by the end of the night it might not matter, I had already promised to do shots with the others before midnight.
“Happy birthday, Lena!” a few members called out as they noticed me. I waved my thanks in return before hiding my face by the window and downing my champagne.
This was all the twins’ doing of course. To make up for missing my birthday last year—and because it was my 25th—they decided it needed to be turned into a full-on event, with everyone they knew involved, setting up one of the upstair rooms into a VIP lounge just for me while turning the rest of clubhouse into a raging block party. I might have thought it was too much, but honestly it reminded me of the crazy parties back at State and that gave me comfort. Still, I had to take a breather because it had also been since college that I garnered this much attention, not counting the kidnapping last summer.
The best way I took a break was hiding by the bar, and it looked like I was in need of another drink. I went to turn around when a pair of arms blocked my way.
“The birthday girl isn’t supposed to be alone in a corner, drinking,” came Leslie’s voice by my ear.
A smile spread on my face. “I was just taking a moment.” I turned in his arms to face him, admiring the black velvet suit with a dark green shirt underneath that he had chosen to wear to match my outfit. “You spying on me?”
“Always.”
I trailed a hand over his suit jacket. “You know how that makes me feel.”
“Hot and bothered?”
“Exactly.”
He grinned before leaning in for a kiss. Maybe I was a little buzzed because I pulled him in, deepening the kiss, my hand drifting lower.
Leslie pulled back. “As ready as I am to take you into another room and fuck you for the…what? The third time? There’s someone here you need to see.”
“Who?”
He took my hand. “Come on.”
I followed him through the crowd. It couldn’t be any of my family or friends outside Gemini that I had a birthday dinner with them a few days ago. He took me out of the VIP and down the hall to another room not set for the party. There were two people inside. Dom sat at the table with his laptop, wearing a suit similar to Leslie’s—only his shirt was black instead of green. He had a scar over his eye but he was as physically healthy as ever, even a little bulkier than months prior.
He fixed me a smile. “Hey, Birthday Baddie,” he signed.
I was ready to make some kind of remark when I noticed the other person in the room standing near a window. I froze as they turned toward me.
“Micheal,” I breathed.
Micheal, wearing a nice suit of his own, placed his hands in his pockets. “Long time, Lena.”
I stared at him like he was a ghost. He looked exactly as I remembered back at the church; only the dark circles under his eyes were more prominent than before. “Yeah, it has.”
