My hand slid down his right arm, stroking it gently until I found the end of his braid and started wrapping it around my wrist, playing with it.

We stayed like that for a while, silent and close, until Kay suddenly turned his head and murmured, "Since today was all about showing off our talents… maybe you could play me something on your banjo?"

I blinked, caught off guard. I hadn’t expected that. Not in the middle of post-coital bliss. But he gave me a slightly teasing look.

"What? Talent show day! What do you think?" he said with a little grin.

I rubbed my chin, hesitating.

"I mean… I tuned the banjo before the trip. It might need a minute."

"Take all the time you need. I’ll wait," he replied, giving me that playful, provoking look again.

Well, why not? I let out a dramatic sigh and sat up.

"Okay, but I’m out of practice. It might be rough."

"Don’t worry about it. Just go for it."

An idea popped into my head.

"Alright, here’s the deal. I’ll play a cover, and you try to guess what it is, okay?"

His eyes lit up.

"Deal!"

I gave one more over-the-top sigh and walked to my room to grab the banjo from where it sat, untouched in its case. I hadn’t played it since I got here, so much had changed since I arrived in White Cliffs, it felt like a whole other lifetime.

When I came back, Kay was already dressed in a long white silk shirt, buttoned down, sitting at the edge of the bed. I sat beside him and checked the tuning. Not bad. I adjusted the G-string a little. Ready.

"Okay, let’s see if you know this one. It’s not exactly a typical banjo tune… but listen close," I said, cheeks going a little pink. "The lyrics are beautiful."

Kay bit his lower lip and tilted his head.

"Alright, hit me."

I took a breath and started playing. The intro wasn’t immediately obvious, and Kay just watched my fingers closely, following the sound. But as I hit the chorus, recognition dawned on his face, clearahamoment.

He grinned and suddenly stood up! I glanced up at him as he began moving across the carpet, slow and fluid, his steps matching the melody. Eyes closed, he swayed gently, completely in tune with the music.

I was transfixed as he raised his arms and let his hair spill out of the braid, flowing over his back and hips like some black-haired woodland nymph.

My jaw dropped, though something else lifted, as he danced, graceful and almost erotic, swaying around the room to the soft rhythm pouring from my strings.

When I hit the final note, he opened his eyes and looked straight at me.

"Well?" I asked, a little shy.

Kay smirked. "That’s easy. Can’t Help Falling in Love.Classic. Beautiful lyrics."

We stared at each other for a long moment.

"Yeah… beautiful lyrics," I echoed softly.

My heart was racing, and his heartbeat picked up too. He was blushing. I was just about to say more when something caught my attention. I fixed my eyes on his abdomen.

"Kay… I think you’re starting to show."
