But she wasn’t stopping. Her eyes burned into his as she whispered, “You said touching is allowed.”

His grin cracked through, even as his restraint thinned to dust. He caught her hand, pressed it harder against the hard length straining beneath his night pants, his head tipping back as he swallowed a curse.

“You need to sleep. You have court tomorrow,” he ground out.

Her lips curved. “I need you more.”

For a second, he almost lost it right there. But then, his thumb brushed over her swollen lips as he leaned down. “Andwhat about the order, hmm? We already skipped the proposal step before kissing.”

“F*ck the order,” she shot back, breathless.

The way she said it snapped something in him. His grin returned, sexier than sin itself. He grabbed her chin, tilting her face up until her eyes locked with his in the faint moonlight pouring through the curtains. “So you admit it…Yougave in first?”

She clenched her jaw, but her hand moved again, cupping him harder this time, through the thin barrier of his pants. His eyes rolled back for a second, lips parting with a hiss, his control splintering.

“Yes,” she whispered, victorious. “I give in first.”

He caught her lips, kissing her torturously slow once more before pulling back just enough to whisper, “Tomorrow.”

Her brows knitted, her breath coming in harsh little gasps. “Why not now?”

“Tomorrow, you’ll know why. And whatever happens tomorrow, I want you to remember it for the rest of your life.”

She exhaled sharply, not liking his answer, not liking the way he still controlled the pace when she was burning alive under his touch. But she knew Kushal. When he said tomorrow, it meant he had something planned...something big.

He gathered her into his arms again, his mouth grazing her cheek, her temple, her hairline. She pressed into him, surrendering to his hold, her heart thundering with hope and frustration all at once.

One more night. One more damn night.

But whatever he had planned for tomorrow… he’d better make it worth it.

Wrapped in each other, the fire still simmering beneath their skin, they finally let sleep claim them.

Chapter 34

Kushal’s Penthouse

As the morning light streamed through the half-drawn curtains, Arundhati stirred first. She was snuggled in the warm cage of Kushal’s arms, her cheek pressed against his chest. For a long, stolen moment, she didn’t move. After all those months of separation, she had finally been waking up to this…them together on one bed.

Kushal murmured something incoherent against her hair, tightening his hold and gliding his palm lazily over her waist.

“Stay.” His morning voice was thick from sleep.

She smiled, wanting the same. To stay in his arms forever. Only if they had that liberty. “We have work, Mr. Nair,” she whispered.

His lips brushed the top of her shoulder as he pulled her closer again. “Let’s call in sick.”

She laughed before rolling onto her back, meeting his sleepy gaze. “Call in sick? And do what exactly?”

Kushal opened his eyes, almost grinning as his lips descended towards her cleavage. She stopped him and cupped his face.

“I’d served myself in a platter for you last night, and what had Mr. Nair done? He said - Not tonight.”

Kushal frowned as she continued to tease him.

“You wasted your chance last night,” she said, tracing a finger down his jaw. “Now you have to wait until tonight.”

His eyes darkened instantly, the way they always did when she challenged him. “That wait doesn’t include kissing my wife. I can kiss her whenever I want to.”
