I couldn’t help but grin at his teasing remark.
“If you act like a child, that’s how I’ll have to treat you. I can’t think of any other way,” I chuckled, but Krish’s expression remained serious as he pulled me closer, our bodies pressed together intimately.
“Let me teach you the adult way of treating me, then,” hesaid before claiming my lips in a burning kiss.
I kissed him back eagerly, instantly, shamelessly. Despite just telling him a minute ago that we should be maintaining some distance at least until our present mission was over, I still couldn’t control my actions. My fingers tangled in his hair as the kiss deepened. His hands roamed over my body, deftly unbuttoning my tight shirt. He then dipped his head lower, trailing kisses along my collarbone and down to the swell of my breasts.
“No more doubts, Trisha,” he murmured against my skin.
A soft moan escaped my lips as he lavished attention on my sensitive skin, his calloused fingers and lips tracing patterns in their wake. I arched into his touch, craving more, needing to feel the heat of his body against mine.
“No more fears,” he added. “No more distance.”
Without breaking our passionate embrace, Krish shifted us until I was lying beneath him on the couch, his weight deliciously pressing me into the cushions. He looked into my eyes, my lips already burning for his touch again.
“From this moment on, we face everything together, as partners, as soulmates. Nothing will ever tear us apart again.”
His declaration bloomed something inside me. I clutched at his shirt, wanting to pull him to me, to kiss him senselessly for still loving me despite all my attempts to put distance between us.
“Say you agree, Trisha,” he nibbled my earlobe, coaxing me further. “Say it.”
I couldn’t resist sliding my hands lower, grabbing his ass.
“I agree,” I finally said, and the next instant, his body crushed into mine, his lips grazed every inch of my neck.
Though we were on the couch, with Ayaan or Meher likely to step out of the bedroom and catch us any moment, neither of us cared. I lost myself in the intensity of his kiss, my hands roaming over the hard planes of his back, revelling in the feel of his muscles rippling beneath my touch. I rocked my hips as he ground his lower body against me, giving me proof of how much turned on he was at the moment. Krish moved to my lips again, kissing me hungrily like he was starving for it all these years.
A sigh escaped me as Krish’s fingers deftly unhooked my bra. I shivered as the cool air caressed my exposed skin. He trailed a blazing path of kisses down my neck, his tongue swirling over my pulse point before continuing lower.
I gasped as his mouth found my breast, his lips and tongue teasing the puckered peak until I was writhing beneath him, my body aching for more of his touch. Throughout my life, I’d never let any man get this close to me. It was only Krish, and it would be only him. My fingers found the hem of his shirt, and I tugged urgently, needing to feel the warmth of his skin against mine. Krish obliged, breaking our embrace just long enough to discard the offending garment before covering my body with his once more.
“I want you so bad,” he mumbled before kissing my collarbone again.
With each caress, each kiss, the flames of desire burned brighter, our passion having simmered for far too long. When Krish’s fingers slipped to the button of my jeans, Istiffened.
“We… can’t,” I told him, glancing at our surroundings once, and he realised it too.
We couldn’t do anything like that out here in the open where anyone could catch us. Curbing his own desires to go ahead with this, Krish pulled away from me, offering me a hand to get up and sit next to him.
“Next time, we will take the bedroom,” he joked, placing a kiss on my forehead.
“And what reason would you give to your friend for wanting a separate bedroom with his wife’s bodyguard?” I teased, buttoning up.
Krish chuckled. “I wouldn’t need to give any excuse. Ayaan would just know.”
Krish slipped back into the shirt he had recently discarded and drew me into his arms. I planted another kiss on his cheek, then wrapped my arms around his waist, resting my head on his shoulder to calm my racing heart. While our night couldn’t unfold as we had hoped, I felt relieved that we had addressed the lingering tension between us.
CHAPTER 18 (A new chapter)
KRISH
I woke up to the sound of Ayaan entering the small kitchenette, his footsteps crossing the two-seater sofa where Trisha and I had spent the night cuddled in each other’s arms. To make matters worse, Ayaan had also noticed the remnants of Trisha’s lipstick on my cheek, raising his suspicions and teasing me about mine and Trisha’s newfound closeness.
As my friend since school, part of me wanted to confide in Ayaan about my love for Trisha. However, given the risky situation with the looming threats from the Bat gang that Ayaan was coping with, I decided to keep this revelation to myself for the time being, at least until the mess was sorted out.
We had finally returned to the Shergill Mansion from the safe house now that it was deemed secure once again. Now, it was time to have an open conversation with my father about Trisha. What she had revealed to me last night about his role in our separation two years ago needed to be addressed. He was the one responsible for the pain and heartache we had endured, and I owed it to both Trisha and myself to get to the bottom of his actions.
With a deep breath, I initiated a video call to my father, who was currently in Austria.
