He nods, brushing his lips across my jawline. “I bought an apartment opposite the bakery so I could see you.”
My eyes widen. He did what? “Salem, you know that’s crazy. You bought an apartment just so you could stalk me?”
He shrugs, brushing it off, but it hits me that he means what he says.
He truly does need me.
“It’s not crazy to me,” he replies, now nuzzling my neck. “I was going insane thinking about you and not knowing what you were doing or if you were safe. I don’t give a fuck about anything else.” He takes a deep breath. “Fuck, you smell so fucking good.”
My hands finally come around him, and my body melts into his. It’s tiring fighting this, especially when he says things like that. “So do you,” I reply, closing my eyes and just enjoying being held. I can’t remember the last time I was, or felt, so safe.
“Are you going to let me free now?” I ask.
“No,” he replies, kissing my forehead. He gets up and slides on some shorts, giving me a quick view of his perfect ass. Fates, how I want to take a bite. And then he starts to climb into bed.
With me.
“What are you doing?” I ask, clearing my throat. I know we had a moment, but surely he’s not going to sleep with me on the first night I’m here as his hostage.
“I only have one bed,” he replies with a shrug, sliding down the soft white silk sheets. “And I’m not sleeping in a bed without you from tonight on.”
“We need to talk about boundaries.” I huff out a frustrated breath and lie back on the pillows. “Fine, but we aren’t doing anything but sleeping. I’m serious, Salem. And we didn’t even go on our run. Can we do that in the morning?”
“Yes.”
“And I am going to work. I’m not some pushover you can bully, Salem. If you want me to like you, we need to be a team, not you telling me what to do,” I snap, sitting up and putting a pillow between us.
This is all happening too fast.
I’ve never slept next to a male before, and now I’m doing it with a chain around my ankle like some kinky sex slave.
“Okay,” he agrees a little too easily.
And don’t ask me how, but I fall into a deep sleep.
It’s the best sleep I’ve ever had.
Chapter 7
Salem
I’ve never slept that well in my life. I usually get four hours, at the most, but next to her, I slept for a solid eight. I removed that pillow wall she made and held her all night long. It was fucking new for me, and I could get used to it.
We shifted and went for a long run around my property before heading back to her house, where she showered and got dressed for work. I don’t like letting her go. In fact, it goes against everything my gut is telling me, but I don’t want her to hate me.
Another new thing.
I don’t usually give a fuck about who likes me or not.
And now she’s wearing a light blue shirt and black pants, an apron with a cherry on top of it, baking away, trying to get me to leave.
“You can’t stand there all day, Salem.” She sighs.
“You coming back to mine tonight?” I ask her, crossing my arms over my chest and leaning back against the wall next to the counter.
“Do I have a choice?” she fires back, arching her brow and cocking her hip. Her sassy attitude makes me hard.
“No.”
