They were all resting at the moment, with me playing nursemaid and Dominic playing prison guard. Sounded rough, but honestly, if you didn’t make them rest, they kept getting up and reinjuring themselves. Especially Courtland. Radic was allowed to move around, and I was pretty sure that pissed off Courtland and Bonnie even more. The only way we could get them to stay in bed was to put them in there together.

A knock at the door made me sigh. There’d been an endless rotation of people swearing black and blue they had no idea that Eldridge was arranging a coup. It was such a surprise. Blah, blah, fucking liars. Half the damn Legion Force had been at the challenge—the boyfriends and brothers and sons of these oh so contrite people, and I didn’t believe for a moment that none of these bastards knew. I was glad that Radic handled most of those visits, even though I forced him to take it easy.

I walked to the door, and saw Rad creeping down the stairs. “You’re meant to be resting, now go. I’ll tell them to come back if they need to!” Radic grumbled about bossy Omegas as he climbed back up the stairs, but that just made me smile harder.

I opened the door and squeaked in surprise. On the other side were Raine and her consorts. And a vampire I didn’t know.

“Oh shit, I mean, hello. Hi, Ma’am. It’s nice to see you.”

“Stop stressing, Omega,” she said, waving a hand. “And my proper title is THE. Oh, here comes Raine, she's The Shit.” The Convocation member on my doorstep actually laughed at her own lame joke, and I couldn’t help but smile.

X groaned. “Honestly, Love. That was bad even for you.”

“Do you want to come in?”

Raine shook her head. “No thank you. We were just leaving, but wanted to drop by and give you a present.” She reached behind her and grabbed the unknown vampire. “This is Tanner. Tanner is a doctor. He is also an excellent fighter and can act as your Alpha’s champion if anyone tries anything stupid, like challenging an injured Alpha in the coming days. Also, I hear he makes a mean pasta alfredo. He’s basically a Swiss army knife, but also a vampire.”

The vampire, Tanner, looked at Raine. “But I’m not Swiss. I’m Australian.”

Raine pinched the bridge of her nose. “Tanner, I’m trying to convince the nice Omega that you are smart enough to be a doctor, and that's what you choose to say?” She turned to me, minutely widening her eyes as if to saysee what I put up with?

“Well, I am a doctor. I went to university. Worked in a hospital.”

“Got bitten by a shark then turned into a vampire, we got it, mate,” X said, not even trying to hide his eye roll. “He’s new, but he's strong and he's a good kid. Doesn’t mind a bit of a fight and has some pretty good skills. He’ll be a good backup plan in case shit goes pear-shaped and you need immediate backup. Just until Courtland is back on his feet.”

Um, how did I say thanks for the gift of a living being without letting on how fucking weird it was? So I just went with an awkward “Thank you?”

Raine surprised the hell out of me by stepping close and pulling me into a hug. “It’s gonna be all okay now, Pryce. I can feel it.”

Then they were all gone, except Tanner, who was smiling at me happily.

“Uh, wanna come in for coffee?”

His face lit up. “Sure thing. Then I’d like to check out the chop-shop, if I could?”

I stared at him for a bit, until I realized he meant he wanted to look at the Doctor’s offices. “Sounds like a good idea.”

Now I had to go and tell Courtland that we had a permanent guest. Maybe I’d butter him up with a blow job first.

Epilogue

Bonnie

Iskipped backward across the carpet, my smile wide enough to crack my face. Courtland walked slowly toward me, looking simultaneously annoyed and predatory. “Come here, Omega.”

I shook my head, grinning. “No way, Alpha. If you want me, you have to catch me.”

Courtland hated walking with the crutches, hated having a limp. Hated everything about not being fighting fit, but I found that he did well with sexual motivation. Right now, if he caught me, he got to kiss me.

He swiped out at my ankles with his crutches, making me laugh. “That’s cheating!” But I bumped to a stop when I stepped back against the wall. I inhaled deeply, a familiar scent wrapping around me, and I leaned back into Radic. Oh, definitely not a wall then.

“No,thisis cheating,” he said, grinning as Courtland caught up and was now pressed against my front.

“Got you,” Courtland growled before kissing the ever-loving hell out of me. His tongue stroked mine as he threw aside his crutches and grabbed my hips. Radic nuzzled his face in my neck, kissing me softly.

“We should bond,” I whispered, and they both froze.

“Now?” Radic asked.
