I frowned. I hated the idea of locking the Omegas in. What if we got overwhelmed? They’d be sitting ducks there. We needed non-Manix help, and that grated even more. “Let’s get them all together, get some of the mated female Betas in there to care for them.”

Gatlin grimaced. “That's all well and good, but moving them is going to be its own problem.”

Fuck me, I couldn’t believe there was going to be a whole week of this. I knew what needed to be done, and I just hoped Courtland wouldn’t kick my ass for it. “Pass me my phone?” I’d given it to Gatlin to hold because let's face it, it wasn't like I could stuff it up my ass in wolf form and carry it around.

Gatlin dragged it out of his jeans, which were kinda tight, and I took a moment to appreciate that he was a fine-looking man. Not as hot as my Pack, but still attractive. He handed me my phone, giving me a sour look. “Stop undressing me with your eyes.”

I snorted. “You’d be so lucky, asshole,” I said with a grin, and then searched through my contacts. Eesh, I was definitely going to get my ass kicked for this, but Courtland was probably balls deep in my girl so he could suck my dick.

I hit dial, and the person at the other end answered on the second ring.

“Hello?” She sounded surprised.

“Ma’am, we need help.”

It turned out that when vamps said, “We’ll be there soon,” they fucking meantsoon.

After the longest hour of my life, where we must have tranqed sixteen Manix Alphas between us, I felt a cool breath fan over the back of my neck. I whirled, snapping, but all I found was the smiling face of X.

“Hello, Wolfie,” he said, grinning widely and showing some impressive fangs. “You’re looking awfully sweaty there. Busy night?”

“Man, you have no fucking idea. Never been so happy to see a bloodsucker.”

Gatlin groaned, but X just grinned. “Obviously, you’ve never met Judge.” Another vampire lifted his head from where he was walking up with Raine, the Convocation member. And he was hot as fuck. Holy shit. X threw back his head and laughed, and I scowled at him again. “He has that effect on anything with a heartbeat, Wolfie. Don’t take it personally.”

Raine was shaking her head. “We got here as fast as we could. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a good run. Didn’t think I’d have to come back here so soon. For a race that was previously thought extinct, you’re a lot of drama.”

I winced. “Sorry, Ma’am. But the Moon Goddess had other ideas.”

“And where's your Alpha General?”

I tensed my jaw. “He’s taking care of our Pack, as he should be. I’m more than capable of taking care of this situation in his stead. That's why we are a Pack, why I’m his Beta.”

Raine laughed, throwing her hands in the air. It was insane to think someone who looked twenty could be one of the most powerful supernaturals in the world. Not physically, but her words could save or sacrifice any one of us.

She reached over, patting my arm like I was a wayward child. “Easy there. I don’t mean to be offensive. Family first, always. Okay, catch me up on what I’ve missed, because the last time I was here, you were almost extinct and your Alpha was still a bachelor.” She raised an eyebrow. “I do enjoy some good gossip.”

I told her about Bonnie’s coma, and her waking up as an Omega female, and the whole town going into rut. As if to punctuate my point, a small group of Alphas sprinted around the corner toward the big house behind the main street. There was a new Omega female named Tia up there. X grinned and sprinted after them.

“Incapacitate, X! I mean it,” Raine yelled after him, shaking her head. “This is why I brought these two and not Lucius.” Uh, yeah. Good move. “So, you were saying?”

“Yeah, so Doc got in two other doctors. I swear, the youngest one is like fifteen but she’s brilliant, and her father I guess is a Lycanthrope, and they said—”

“Stacey’s here?!” Raine screeched, and I jumped away. But she seemed happy about it. “She’s my daughter's girlfriend. Is Bohdie here too? I can’t imagine Enit letting her come up here without him; she’s very protective of Stacey.”

I guess there wouldn’t be many child geniuses with a Lycan as a father, so I just nodded. Honestly, the supernatural world was like a small town sometimes.

Before I knew it, we were over at Doc’s house, and Raine was hugging Bohdie and Stacey, who didn’t seem like she was a huge fan of hugging but withstood it anyway. While they caught up, the hottie vampire—I mean, Judge—came to speak to me, his face serious.

Hot as fuck but still, he had nothing on Courtland.

“What is your plan?”

I cleared my throat. “We move all the Omegas to a central location. The heat… Well, they tell me it's rough, and the Manix are literally genetically predisposed to ease their suffering with the added benefit of propagating their race. With so many new Omegas, the males have gone…”

“Manic?”

“They call it the frenzy. Doesn’t happen very often, but often enough that it has a special name. It’s basically when the whole town goes nuts. So I think we put the Omegas in the cells down below, make them comfortable, and guard a single point rather than spreading ourselves around. None of the Omegas were in relationships from what I can work out, so now is not the time for them to be making crazy decisions anyway. They are all drugged on their hormones.”
