The girl was looking between Alistair the Lycanthrope, and Bohdie. “I don’t think anyone in the last century has witnessed a frenzy. It would be an interesting research opportunity.”

Bohdie scoffed. “This guy is preparing for Armageddon, Stace. It’s too dangerous just to appease your scientific curiosity.”

“Lucky I have you then, isn’t it?” she said, raising a single challenging eyebrow. Bohdie looked at Alistair.

“We’ll stay. I believe you’ll need the help before the worst is over.”

I bowed low. “Thank you.” I turned to Merrick and Murphy, who were hovering over one of the fallen Betas. “Do you trust yourselves?”

They both seemed to pause, looking between the unconscious female and her Beta packmate. Merrick straightened his spine. “They’ll be safe with us.”

I nodded. “If I hear otherwise, I will flay the skin from your body while alive.” They both grunted, but I was glad I got the point across. “Go, stash her somewhere safe. Do not touch her without her express permission and do not mate her. Am I clear?”

“Crystal, man. She’s already mated, remember?” They scooped her up and ushered the male, Quinn, out the door.

It was time to go. “Rad, help Pryce with the cubs.” I stepped toward my Omega, who was watching us all with wide, anxious eyes. “It will be okay, Omega. I promise. Let’s go home, okay?”

He nodded, going to scoop up the second cub from the middle of the room. I pulled back the blankets of Bonnie’s hospital bed, scooping her into my arms. She squirmed, letting out a low sound in her throat.

My dick went hard as a rock. Shit, we had to hurry.

Doc frowned at me. “She’s coming out of it already, Courtland. I would hurry.”

He didn’t have to tell me twice. I sprinted to the van I had parked at the rear of the property when I’d dropped Pryce off this morning. Pryce and Radic strapped the cubs into their carseats as I slid Bonnie into the back, then climbed into the driver’s seat. “Radic, call the families of all the sleeping Betas, uh, Omegas? Explain. Warn them what's coming.”

Radic nodded, pulling out his phone. I drove the short distance back to the house we now occupied. When I stepped out, I wasn’t surprised to see one of the Alphas of Bonnie’s Omega friend striding toward me.

“Alpha General,” he said, dipping his head respectfully, even as he eyed me lifting the unconscious body of Bonnie from the back of the van. “What the fuck is going on?”

Bonnie stirred in my arms again, and my Beast was rapidly roaring to the surface. “Short version. Bonnie has changed into a female Omega. So have fifteen other unmated female Betas. They are all about to go into heat.”

Corvin stumbled back like I’d hit him. “What? How?”

I shrugged. “Only mother nature and the Goddess herself know. And an extremely smart human girl.” I paused. “Will you be okay caring for the Sanctum?” Shit, why hadn’t I thought of that? They were a Pack of Alphas with a sole Omega; they would feel the full effects of the frenzy.

Corvin tightened his jaw. “We’ll be fine, Alpha. I’ll go lock down the Sanctum now.”

Then he was gone and I was striding into the house. Rosa was standing at the door, her mouth wide open. “Is it true? Is everyone going to go into rut?” She’d heard the same stories from Abuela as Dominic and I had.

I nodded. “I need to put Bonnie down, and then I’ll come back and speak to you, Rosa.”

I took the stairs two at a time until I was on the very top floor. I found a smaller size spare room, and laid Bonnie down on the bed. I didn’t want to destroy her room, and I knew she’d appreciate the more enclosed space.

When I turned, Radic was behind me, looking desperately hopeful. I grabbed him and hugged him tight to my chest. “It’s going to be okay, Beta. Go and gather all the pillows and blankets from our rooms—she’ll want a familiar, comfortable space when she wakes.” He moved away, and I called out. “Rad? I’m going to… It’s going to be crazy. I’m going to need you, Beta. Need you to protect our cubs, our Pack, and our mate. I promise, next time? Next time, when we make a decision, it will be all of us. But this time? I need you to be the strong one.”

He chewed his lower lip but nodded, taking off down the hall to gather things for our female Omega. Our Bonnie.

I breathed out the word “Fuck” as I sprinted back down the stairs. I had to explain everything to Rosa and give her a damn gun. She would be the last line of defence for the kids if things got… insane.

Then I had to have the birds and the bees talk with my male Omega.

This should be interesting.

You know when you have a really long nap, and rising to consciousness feels like wading through soup? Well, waking from a coma didn’t feel like that. It felt like a shot of adrenaline right to the heart.
