To be honest, I wanted it too. But I was scared. Not of Courtland or the sex or anything like that. I was scared of the unknown, I guess. Of taking a step that I couldn’t take back. Of being trapped in another wrong decision.
Radic reached out a hand but dropped it, still respecting my boundaries. “I’ll take you home, Omega.” His eyes screamed for permission to take care of me like a good Beta should, even though it warred with the other instincts that were probably turning his blood to fire right now.
I shook my head. “Don’t you want to be in there? With Bonnie and the guys?”
He only hesitated briefly. “You don’t understand, Pryce. The smell of your distress is like a beacon to me and every other Manix in this arena. Please let me take you home? Bonnie…” He hesitated. “Bonnie can take care of herself, I promise.”
I tilted my head at him. “What if I said I wanted to follow them and take part in whatever is going on down there?”
Radic hesitated again. “I would attempt to talk you out of it,” he said with a sigh. “Look, I’m about to make some assumptions, okay? I’m going to say that you’ve never been really intimate with a person”—he paused—“at least with your consent. That’s why you’re uncomfortable with physical contact. Believe me, a fully beasted out Alpha Manix is not the way you want to experience lovemaking for the first time. It's wild and frenzied, and sometimes brutal.” He reached out and grabbed my hand, his icy blue eyes meeting mine. “You’ve experienced enough brutality. And Courtland would never forgive himself. But ultimately, the choice is yours, Pryce. You have all the choices.”
I swallowed hard, letting him hold my hand, and the instinctive urge to pull away told me he was right. But I hated that he was right. I stood there for a little longer, and I could see some of Courtland’s men lingering around. They’d want to be protecting Courtland too, while he was injured at least, because he’d just proved beyond anyone’s doubt that he could handle himself. My Omega was basically panting at the thought of having him, but the man was still shying away.
“What if I wanted to just watch?”
Radic blinked. Swallowing hard, he nodded. “Okay. We’ll watch it together.”
I shook my head, because now I felt like a needy asshole. “I don’t want you to, uh, miss out.”
He grinned, and I realized just how handsome he was. He wasn’t the broody handsome of Courtland, or the charismatic sexy of Dominic. He was just classically beautiful. “Don’t worry about it. I have a feeling there’s going to be plenty more orgies in our future.” He tugged on my hand, pulling me through the slow moving crowd. We headed through a gate and into a small building that I assumed must be the infirmary.
He knocked on the door and Dominic was there, his gun at his side but a grin on his face.
“Decided to join us? Don’t worry, you haven’t missed the festivities. Bonnie and the Doc are just patching him up; apparently that last swipe nearly perforated his intestines.”
He was smiling, but I could see the worry lining his face. If there was one thing of which I was certain, since my life had been well and truly turned upside down in the last month, it was that Dominic was absolutely devoted to his Alpha. He would jump in front of a moving bullet for the man, and I didn’t think it was just Pack loyalty. He loved him. Like, soul-deep loved him, and I’d never say it to the man himself, but it was the type of love that I aspired to have one day. Maybe with him, if he had enough love left over to share.
Dominic tilted his head, trying to read me. Then he stepped forward, grinned and kissed me. It was soft and delicate—not something I’d ever associated with him—but it was also full of promise.
“Don’t be scared, Omega.”
Radic shook his head. “We’re spectating today, Dominic.”
Have you ever seen a fully grown man, completely covered in tattoos and scars, pout like a child? Dominic jutted out his full lower lip, although his eyes were laughing. “No fun. Next time, though,” he purred, and I knew it was a promise. “I’ll put on my best performance, just so you know what you're getting yourself into. Rad here already knows.” He leaned over to kiss the Beta, giving me a wink.
Radic shook his head again as the door to the clinic opened and a blood-splattered but now patched up human Courtland stumbled out, Bonnie close behind like she was willing to catch him if he fell.
Although he was human again, the aura of his Alpha was still suffocatingly present in the room. Doc strode out after him, his leather doctor's bag in his hand. He looked between us all and raised an eyebrow. “Goddess, there are enough sex pheromones in this room to kill a horse.” He looked between Bonnie and Courtland. “Do not rip open those staples because I’m not putting them back in,” he warned, but I figured it was an empty threat. The guy was gruff, but I’d seen him handle the cubs. He was soft-hearted.
With one more shake of his head, the doctor left the room, slamming the door shut and Radic lurched toward it to lock it.
For a moment, we all stand there as still as statues. Courtland was still naked, and the hard length of his cock was nearly touching the stitches across his abdomen. He was so fucking powerful that it was beautiful. No, not beautiful—that was the wrong adjective. Majestic? Insanely hot?
I grew hard behind the sweats I was wearing, and his eyes snapped to mine. “Omega,” he growled, his voice still entirely Manix and his expression a little feral. He stalked toward me, but suddenly Radic was there, standing in front of me.
“Move,” Courtland growled, and I could see Radic’s back twitch as his own Beast wanted to obey.
“Alpha,” he said, his head bowed. “The Omega doesn’t want to participate. He just wants to watch.” He lifted his head, meeting Courtland’s eyes briefly. “Courtland. This isn’t the way anyone should start a relationship.”
Courtland froze, his eyes moving past Radic to me. “Is this true?” I nodded, because my mouth was so dry that I couldn’t have spoken if I tried. Courtland reached out and wrapped his hand around Radic’s throat, using his long fingers to tilt up the head of the Beta Manix. Bonnie and Dominic had drifted closer, like they weren’t sure if they needed to step in.
“Good, taking care of our Omega, protecting him, even from me,” Courtland whispered softly, then leaned forward to kiss him with complete possession. Radic was his, just from that kiss alone, and I could see it in both of their body language.
Courtland finally drew away, the look on his face primal. He let go of Radic’s throat, and Radic stumbled away like his legs no longer worked. Then Courtland was in front of me, kissing me softly. “Soon, Omega, when the lust isn’t riding me so hard, I will make you mine,” he murmured against my lips before turning away, his grin feral as he faced the other two people in the room.
We felt like a Pack, and I knew my Omega was beginning to feel that way, despite what my head said. My Beast wanted to reach out and steady Radic, wanted to hold him close to me, to watch what was about to happen next. Bonnie looked somewhere between scared and crazily turned on.
“Mmm, my Betas. Kneel.” There was power in his words, but no compulsion. He would dominate them, but only for as long as they’d permit it.
