But Dominic laughed loudly. “Oh, no, baby. You don’t get rid of me that easily.” He leaned over me, sliding his hand down over my hip and around to cup my pussy. “I intend to fuck this over and over until you can barely remember your name.” He kissed me softly, and he tasted like my release. When he pulled away, he looked up at Radic, and that mischief was back in his eyes. “You too.” Heaving a sigh, he sat up. “It’s just that I’m about to get my ass kicked in five… four… three… two…” He pointed at the door just as it slammed open, and I rolled onto my front quickly.
A furious looking Courtland was standing there, a slightly confused—and, judging by the tent in his pants, really aroused—Pryce behind him.
Courtland pointed at Dominic. “Out. Now.”
His voice was more Beast than man, making goosebumps tingle all over my skin. Dominic just grinned, ran his hand over my ass one more time, and then strutted out of there, shirtless and with his dick out.
Once he’d left the office, Courtland’s heated gaze seared me as his eyes took in every inch of my body and then Radic’s. He turned on his heel, shutting the door softly behind him. I slumped onto the carpet, my jello muscles not able to hold me up anymore.
“Hey Bon?” Radic murmured, and I turned my head toward him.
“Mmm?”
“I don’t think we are in Kansas anymore.”
I shook my head. We weren’t in Kansas, or Maxton, or anywhere that the normal rules applied. We’d taken a strong left turn down the rabbit hole, ended up at the bottom of Mary Poppins’ carpet bag, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to find my way out.

Isnagged my shirt on the way out of the room, trying to keep my pleasure to myself. But it was hard when I still smelled of Bonnie. I could feel the thunderous anger of Courtland behind me, and I was prepped for a fight. Not that I thought it would really come to that. Courtland was mad at me, but I didn’t think it was anger so much as jealousy.
When I went to turn left to my designated bedroom, Courtland’s growl stilled my feet. Well, maybe he was a little angry too.
“Outside, Beta.”
Oops. Looks like we were going to settle this the old-fashioned way. I swaggered outside like I hadn’t done anything wrong—which I maintained I hadn’t. Just because Court had wanted the Beta pair, didn’t mean they were his property.
I’d asked. They’d agreed. It was all above board. Kinda.
Once we were out beneath the pink rays of the setting sun, Court pointed a long finger at me. “Shift.”
I gave him the finger back. “No, asshole. I am not fighting with you about this.”
He wasn’t listening though. I didn’t worry about an audience, because the men knew better than to watch while we fought. Courtland could switch his anger to one of them on a dime, and no one was willing to take that chance for the sake of some useless gossip.
He just looked at me coolly. “Do you know what it was like, to sit in a strategy meeting about overthrowing a fucking governing body, while I could hear the sweet little moans of the Beta from the floor above? Or the pure fuck-me pheromones they were both sending down those stairs? I found Pryce stroking himself outside the door of the office.” He pulled back his lips and snarled. “Other people heard you having sex with both of my Betas before I had even tasted them. Do you know how offensive that is?”
I snorted. Yeah, I knew I was right. He was jealous. “One, I asked and they enthusiastically consented. You aren’t the Little Prince anymore, Courtland. You don’t get to take what you want and then leave the leftovers for everyone else.”
He was in front of me in a second, his hand around my throat. I resisted the urge to purr, because we needed to have this conversation, and I didn't mean the one about my blue balls. “You knew I wanted them.”
I shook my head, but didn’t pull out of his grip. “You aren’t hearing me. You aren’t the Prince in his fucking court now. You are a man, an Alpha, choosing his Pack.” He shook his head, but I pushed closer so he couldn’t deny it to himself. “You are. And I always thought that when you decided to settle down, there’d be a place for me. That I would be your Beta.”
His hand slid from my throat. “There is. You are.”
I stepped away, shaking my head. “No, I don’t think I am. Because this was enough for me while we had a role to play, Court. When you had to be the stone-cold killer without attachments, and I had to be your crazy fucking sidekick. But we aren’t running drugs in a conservative country anymore. We are in Maxton, motherfucking Montana. I’m no longer just your faithful hound. And if that’s how you’ll always see me, rather than someone in your Pack, then I can’t stay.”
I turned away, walking back toward the house. I built up my walls, because I’d said my piece, but I didn’t know how Courtland would react. He wasn’t an easy man to read, even for a shifter.
“Stop!”
My feet slowed, and I desperately wanted to stop, to do what he said, but I pushed past the urge. I opened the door and stepped through, closing it softly behind me. I didn’t realize I was breathing hard until I was on the stairs. I was happy that there wasn’t anyone on my way up the stairs, so I didn’t have to put on my jovial face and pretend like I wasn’t hurting a little that there were no footsteps coming up the stairs behind me.
I pushed into the room that I’d made mine. Well, not really, because the only decorating I’d done in the short amount of time we’d been here was to spread a multitude of weapons across the bed. It was probably all the decorating I’d ever do.
I could go, lead Federico and Alvaro’s Pack like they’d asked, after Courtland was secure here. Because despite the things I’d just said, I was loyal to that fucker like no one else.
