If the situation wasn’t serious, I would have laughed. All seven men jumped about three feet away from us. All because the cat tried to paw at them.

“Do you have food? I think it’s just hungry,” I said to Coone. One thing he doesn’t lack is food in his arsenal. Zirc shared that tidbit before he left.

He looked deranged. If possible, his face turned a dark shade of purple.

The cat chose that moment to jump.

“Ouch,” I involuntarily said when it scratched me.

Coone roared and so did the other manasties. At the same time, my body moved forward to protect the cat from these angry testosterone men who wanted to slay a cat. Coone got to me first trying to restrain me.

“No!” I shouted but Jigen took one aim at the cat and fired. Again, there was no sound. “No!”

The cat swayed a little, its eyes search for me. Its eyes sad.

“No,” I whispered. “Is it alive?” I asked Coone while Jigen took the cat by the scruff of its neck and walked away towards the cage with the other cats.

“Is it alive?” I shouted again.

“Will you shut up and let me look at you. Thatthingclawed on you and now you have blood on your arm.”

I saw Jigen stiffen.

My blood. They said no one is supposed to know the color of my blood.

I looked down and see that Coone is trying as much as possible to shield me from everyone. He sprayed a mist on my arm, my blood diluted to a somewhat pinkish color.

Jigen suddenly appeared on my right side.

“Let me,” he said. Coone made some space but did not let go of my arm. It was just a tiny bit of scratch!

I stopped and looked at Coone. His hand holding the mist was shaking. His face looks ashen now.

“Am I going to die?” I gulped. Maybe there’s something I don’t know. In fact, there are so many things I don’t know about this planet!

Jigen looked at Coone, motioned for Roo and tilted his head towards Coone. Coone growled low on his throat.

At least Roo looks happy. I haven’t seen him smile like that. Something must have happened.

Jigen sighed. “You’re not going to die.”

“Ouch.” He injected my arm with a syringe. It happened too fast. He wiped my arm of blood. I noticed his tail is brushing the sand beneath me where my blood dropped.

“Let’s go,” he motioned and let go of me. Coone looked better, albeit still pale, but he did not let go of my arm. I heard a sound and caught Roo lit a fire on where I stood, just before Coone used his arm to move me forward again.

Of course, my iron blood is top secret. Yet, it seems like the small circle of Zirc’s friends are expanding beyond Crix, Volks, and Jigen.

The vehicle carrying the cats moved slowly as if they are afraid to wake them up. What’s funny though are the guards or warriors are clothed with armor from neck down.

“What’s the deal with the cat - hiscat?”

Jigen continued to walk further down the alleyway. People trickled from the buildings as we passed by. This is a bigger road than from where we entered.

“They are sacred animals on this world.”

“Do they change to human?” Jigen glanced at me puzzled. “I mean humanoid or like you.”

Jigen laughed. “Heaven forbid no!”
