“I can handlehim.”
“Nobody is handling HIM!”
I sprouted to my beast mode.
“Fruck!”
“Volks!”
“Calm down, he’s not getting away. Look, it’s probably the best. His wound is knitting.”
I was panting. My beast tried to sprint but we seemed to have lost our legs as well. I crashed down and looked up. It was juvenile, Kasix. All the slaves ran back. He was petrified seeing my beast. I can hear someone shouting, maybe the old male guarding this youngling.
Still panting, I noticed the tin can he is holding. The surface is smooth enough I can see my reflection. My Silver Beast in all its glory. Minus, minus the right arm. I felt like one of the broken toys Roqs and I used to play with.
I am losing oxygen. Just before I fainted, I heard someone say, “Can I keep his arm as a souvenir?”
That juvenile. Wait until I recover.
Chapter 14
UNDER CITY
Brynn
Back at Ageles (Crix’s Village)
Same day
“Ithought you said we are going to town?”
I can tell that Coone is also worried about the others leaving so he said he and I are going to town to go shopping. He made me walk a thousand miles, yes it’s an exaggeration, but it felt like a thousand. This is another part of town I’m not familiar with. Most of the places I’ve been to are part of the forest and the lake system. A while back, we passed a point where the forest ends, and now there are endless sand dunes. Kind of strange and haven’t been to this kind of place back home. Of course, how can I forget, I’m on an alien planet!
“All you do is complain,” Coone grumbled.
Hmm, his back is wide enough to be a target practice with some of the stones and crystals I picked up on the way. My small bag is getting heavy with it. He thinks it’s ‘cute’ that I pick them up. I’m surprised cute has a direct translation in their language.
We stopped in a small rocky hill. There were some dried twigs bundled. Aha, a secret hide out. He pushed it away and I saw there’s an entrance. Of course. Guys like Coone are creepy that way.
I still have mixed feelings about this guy. It’s like I’m competing with him for Zirc’s attention. I think we are both jealous of each other. We both want Zirc. How come he doesn’t feel that way about Roqs? For that matter, why am I not jealous of Roqs as well?
A thing to ponder on when I’m not with the creepy guy. I need my wits. I think he has a plan to ditch me. Good thing I talked to Jigen and he said he placed a tracker in my bag. Note to self, keep my bag at all times.
Coone came out with what looks like a two-passenger ATV. Instead of wheels, it is levitating. Yes, how many times do I need to remind myself I’m on another planet?
“Hop in,” he indicated me getting on the back.
I grabbed hold of the bars, and pushed myself up so I can seat. It’s not a comfortable seating. The leather is dirty, I dusted it with my hands. That earned a rolling of eyes from Coone. Then he sat in the front.
“Eeek,” I squealed when the bike levitated two to three feet up higher. My hands are white gripping the bars in front of me. Good thing there are bars on my my front and back. What if this thing can travel at warp speed again?
My squeal earned a death glare from the creepy guy. He looked back and pinned me with a stare. I just looked back at him but I’m pretty sure my cheeks are red with embarrassment.
He looked to the front, did some programming of some sort. The next thing I knew, a barely visible shield appeared around us, blocking the outside noise but not cutting off the air.
“Try not to shout again, human. Your wailing is grating to my ears.”
The nerve of this guy. And he says human in a derogatory way. “Well, excuse me if your kind hasdelicateears.”
