He gave me a once over and went to join the others by the windows. I noticed the trio are huddled together. Though it looked more like Jigen and Volks are guarding Crix because they were standing a little in front of Crix.
What the hell?
Looks like something else is going on here.
I looked up at Zirc’s face. He looked calm enough but he had his stoic face on. He is still not looking at Roqs but I can see a prominent tick on his jaw. He is trying to stay calm.
When I tried to move away from him, all of them reacted in various degrees.
“No!”
“Don’t go away from him.”
“Stay.”
“Stop acting dumb again.”
I knew the last one came from Coone behind me.
“Okay, okay,” I sad. Roqs and Zirc are not moving. But Roqs briefly looked at me.
“I understand Zirc,” Roqs said quietly.
Zirc took a deep breath and exhaled long. Then he turned to Roqs. “I’m sorry, Roqs.” I can hear the sincerity in his voice. “Know that I am not sick or down with anything. I can function. It’s just that - .”
I saw the way he clenched his fists. Then relaxed his palms against his sides.
Sick? Zirc is sick?
Chapter 8
PILLOW TALK

Zirc is sick.
I couldn’t help myself. I touched his arm. Trying to see if he has a fever.
I felt and saw his soft fur rippling across his arm, probably throughout his body.
“Zirc,” Crix cried out.
“I know,” Zirc said solemnly.
Whatever it was, they seemed to realize something.
I looked up and saw Zirc looking down at me tenderly. That was new.
“I’m not sick little one,” he said.
Little one? I arched an eyebrow at him. Who’s he calling little? I am considered big where I come from.
There must have been a secret signal among them because the trio silently walked out of the room. Leaving me, Zirc, Roqs and Coone who is now seated on one of two lounge sofas still standing upright.
Volks was kind enough to place the food on the floor between the sofa.
Zirc took my arm and he seated on the largest sofa. Roqs sat on the other side of him.I don’t know if they are at least sitting He briefly took some meat, placed it on a plate, and handed it to me. Without saying anything, I started to eat immediately.
