“What is intriguing though is that you have some DNA or chromosomes that seems to be compatible with us. Genetically, we are not 100% the same but we are at 80%. That is actually high among the different species in this galaxy. The closest species are the Nekos which is at 68%. The Magnesians comes next at 60%. So I find it intriguing that your specie has a much higher percentage of compatibility genetically.”

Makes me think of that theory that God really scattered seeds in the universe and we were probably both from the same genes.

“What is your specie? What are you called then?” I asked curiously.

Crix looked taken aback. “What? No one told you about us?” Then he narrowed his eyes at Zirc.

Chapter 4

COMPATIBILITY

Brynn

Zirc just grumbled as if he wasn’t to be bothered with petty things like introducing your name and specie to an alien woman.

I find it funny Zirc was being chastised. He was patient just listening to the conversation. Yet, I can feel his erection at my side. He started to stiffen when Crix started talking about compatibilities. Probably thinking about sex. How very male of him.

Crix sighed almost dramatically. He grabbed a chair and took a seat beside our bed. The chair was made of steel and can carry his weight and the weight of his robes. I wonder why he dressed differently. Maybe the weather is much cooler outside. We probably ended in a colder environment. Thinking of the trees, probably true compared to the orange desert I’d been.

“Get ready for story telling time Brynn.”

“Good thing Jigen is not here,” Roqs muttered.

Crix chuckled. “Yes, good thing. Otherwise, we’ll be here for days. Now Brynn,” he focused his gaze at me. “Let me properly welcome you to our planet. This planet is called Manasty.”

Zirc snorted.

“Quiet on the back seat over there,” Crix said good naturedly. “To others, this planet is called G24956.”

“Others?”

“You did not expect that we are the only species in the universe? The Galactic Council probably left your planet alone because your technology is not capable of space travel, yet. You will be prey to those who are technologically advanced. So in a way, the Council is protecting you. Though I would not put it past them they put spies on your planet. Every organization in the galaxy has spies all over.”

I remembered all those aliens conspiracies. Well now I am sitting on an alien planet. Everything is real.

“The Manasties are purely males of our species. We lost our females to a virus. By then, we can already travel in space. The Galactic Council tried to intervene. They harvested all the eggs from the dying females and left it to our Council of Tribes. For us to have children, we need the females of our kind. There are other species who are lucky enough to reproduce themselves. While other species can have their males bear their young in their womb, they still need the eggs of the females to be born. Unlucky for us, our males cannot bear our young.”

“I’m sorry.” It’s sad that they lost their females.

“You don’t have to be. It is what it is. We learned a hard lesson. Using unnatural things is bad for us. We gain some, but future generations suffered for it. So now we are more careful. Though we still have large deposits of fossil fuels, we don’t use them.”

“Or some will excavate and sell to other planets.” Zirc complained.

“Yes, there are more. Let’s just say, entrepreneurial Manasties who thinks they are saving our planet by getting rid of the pollutants.”

“How long ago was it that you lost your females?”

“We lost them more than a thousand years ago.”

I was shocked. That was such a long time. How can their species survive?

Crix smiled a little. “We can live long lives. Plus we still have many female eggs in The Chamber. That is what we call our Chamber. Yet, even though we have many female eggs to fertilize, it is hard for a Manasty male to find their mate.”

“Their mate?”

“In the past, a Manasty needs to be a triad. Two males to one female. There are others who have more than two males in a family. Though we have almost a million of Manasties scattered all over the planet, we have lost our natural sense to find our mate. Many died without finding their true mates and lost their opportunity to bear a son or if they are lucky enough, sons. We think that our females produces a hormone that triggers two males to mate with her so we can procreate in her womb.”

What he said produces some graphic images in my head that is making me squirm a bit. “So what you’re saying is that both of the males has to be inside a female to reproduce?”
