“And very intelligent too. I’ve seen other species who are more lacking in intelligence.”

I’m still deciding if I should bash him on the head or not. Was that a compliment to me?

“The iron blood has many stories. Some say someone with an iron blood will save this world from extinction. But it was proven false. A falcro, captured by the old raiders, centuries ago, has an iron blood. Unfortunately, experiments were done on her but failed. It caused a massive repercussion to our planet back then and we were banned from trading for 100 years. The falcro was eventually released and with huge compensation. Still, there are still some on this planet who believe that someone with an iron blood can save us.”

“What’s making you extinct if you still have millions of eggs harvested?”

He looked at me straight into my eyes. Like he’s trying to see inside my soul if I’m just being curious or maybe a spy?

He sighed. “I guess you’ll eventually find out. It’s not an open secret but we are sensitive about it. You see, we are going extinct. We have no female manasties. The only way we can survive is when we breed with our mates inside a chamber that has a female egg harvested from female manasties a long, long time ago. Our future is numbered.”

I heard a ringing in my ear.

No female.

On. This. Planet.

No one but me.

He told me about this when we first met.

Talk about a delayed reaction. I will not faint this time.

Chapter Six

Brynn

“Are you going to vomit on me again? You look kind of faint. I get now what you mean by your kind being fragile.”

I know Roqs is talking but it’s hard to get his point across. On this whole planet. I’m the onlyfemale?

“Surely, there are other females on this planet, right?” I try to say with some sort of desperation in my voice.

“There are some here who are females, but they are of different races.”

I breathed a sigh of relief. Cool. Nothing to worry about. Moving on.

“Currently there are twenty registered females on this planet.”

“Twenty?” I’m pretty sure my voice sounded hollow to my ears.

He nodded.

“Registered?”

Now it was Roqs who sighed. He pushed up and paced. “You are an illegal alien! I can’t believe Zirc went straight to frucking without even giving you the basics. It makes me wonder what - “

He stopped abruptly.

“What?” I looked back in case he was seeing something I didn't. Like Zirc?

“It’s nothing. Forget I said anything. I just don’t understand him. He’s not like this.”

“Well, I don’t understand him either. I don’t know him!”

“I know.” He resumed his pacing. His tail looked tame trailing behind him so that means he’s not so agitated. Maybe he’s just thinking.

He stopped and looked at me. “Any alien or species who visited our planet must be registered. This works on your planet, yes?”
