He can’t be doing this to me.
I struggled valiantly.
“Stay still Brynn. This is for your own good.”
“No Roqs! Don’t put those things. Nooo!!”
I tried to scream but Roqs is so flexible. He managed to use his arm to block half of my face then use both hands to pry open my pinkie finger.
And he had the gall to put one of those squiggly creatures - like aworm- on my pinkie!
I think I’m going to pass out.
“I can’t believe you’re more afraid of this than me,” he sounds exasperated.
It’s probably a good thing he is holding me really tight otherwise I would have felt them eating my finger!
“Will you stop moving! This will help prevent others from scenting your iron blood. Zirc most likely killed those in the vicinity if he did not use one of these on you.”
I think I’m losing air. Yes, better to faint.
But he did not give me a choice. He released me slowly back to the chair. We were a few feet away from it.
“For someone so small, you do put on a lot of fight.”
I looked up as I tried to gather my breath. I took huge gulps of air; I saw his eyes have the same glint to it as Zirc when he is aroused. I will not look down. I will not look down.
Argh. I looked down and saw those squiggly worms.
I saw Roqs’ right-hand pinch some off the bottle. I scrambled back away and ended up on the bed.
I watched as he slowly put it near his mouth and said, “This is actually good food, little one. You should try this. It’s a delicacy around here.” He ate them. I heard the crunch.
I ran to the toilet and vomited all over the square bowl.
I heard Roqs huge sigh at the back.
I will remember today.
“So, are you sure you don’t want to eat?”
I looked at him with so much hate it’s a wonder he did not fizzle out and die. He only chuckled.
“I should feed you. Zirc will not want me to starve you for sure.” He handed me the jerky. “I got this hirly for you.”
I grabbed it forcefully from his hand. Though I tried to erase what happened a while ago, I wanted it to be years ago, I’m hungry. I puked up all the good soup I ate earlier. Now that was a waste.
“Seriously, you should eat.”
I tried to change the subject and wished I hadn’t.
“Who is Zirc to you?”
That wiped the smile off his face. He became silent.
“You’re not enemies or something -“
He laughed again. He laughs so much it contradicts the black persona he is emitting when we are outside.
