Then I heard a booming laughter that echoed through the walls.
Blue guy hissed like a scalded cat. “Quiet your tone.Heis looking for this person, I swear.”
The man’s laughter trickled down to a mere chuckle.
“You want me to believe the Silver Beast is out there? And more,” he gulped a fresh air of breath in between chuckles, “for this slip of a young boy?”
He moved so fast which was probably a good thing. I had no time to react when he kicked my leg with his boot. I stifled my cry by biting my lip. At the same time I heard Blue guy cry out to stop him. I try not to think of the pain. Those fancy boots of his are hard, I tried to kid myself. Better to have a broken leg maybe than die at this point.
“What are you doing? Are you not afraid of him?,” Blue guy stepped away from him though. As if he doesn’t want to contaminate himself from this guy.
“Me? Afraid of him,” fancy boots sneered. He stepped away from me but advanced towards Blue guy. “How can you be afraid of him? He’s just a mindless monster. Nothing but a product of whispers among the Elders who had no right to sit on their thrones like they own this planet.” There is so much hate in his tone.
“And you seem to have forgotten yourself, Ist,” his boots is now toe to toe with Blue guy. So after all this time, he does have a name. “Who took you in and made you as you are now? Do you not remember your brother in my care?”
Blue guy, Ist, stood his ground. “I do, my brother.”
Ah, so these are the guys he betrayed the Blue Tribe, betrayed Zirc to. Betrayed me though he has no loyalties to me.
“That is why I am here. And this young boy will lure Zirc to you. He has the relic.”
I heard a sound. It came from the guy on the wall and he straightened up and finally came to the two, forming a small circle. I noticed now there is light coming from outside the wall. This means there might be a nearby exit. How long had I been out?
“Are you sure?” Fancy boots asked. Ist jerked. I heard a slap on the body. The guy must have had his arm on Ist. “If that is so, then you have brought good news to us!”
“Have you seen it?”, the third man asked. “What is it?”
“Hush brother, we should plan,” Fancy boots said. “This is our chance to rid ourselves of the Elders.”
“Yes, yes, I have.”
Fancy boots laughed softly. “Ah, you must have seen other parts of him as well. With the way your cheeks darken.”
I heard Ist trying to move away from fancy boots but he held onto him.
“What is it?”, the third man insisted.
“It glowed like amber. Like your eyes. I haven’t seen Zirc use it though.”
Fancy boots snorted. “I’m sure given the chance he will try to use it before he brings it to the Elders. This is a good chance to rid of him and take the relic.” He strode away from Ist but Ist stayed where he was. Near me.
“If this young boy is as you say he is, then we will use him to lure the Silver Beast. Bring him to the ship. We will give him a very nice send off.”
“But you don’t understand –“
“Hush Ist. I heard you the first time. My beast is also tingling. If it’s the Silver Beast, then why are you afraid of him? Do you not remember who I am? You have seen me fight. And many had seen my Beast. The Silver Beast is like a youngling. He has not yet mastered his beast to fight.”
There was silence for a moment.
Ist is suddenly in my face. Looking straight at me. I was too shocked to close my eyes. He looked hard at me. Suddenly, I got what he meant.
As soon as I closed my eyes, he carried me and I felt all my blood rushed to my head. I felt dizzy. My stomach, good thing I wasn’t too full, is wedged on his shoulder. I consider myself heavy and Ist on the slender side. Still, he carried me as if I weighed nothing. I tried to relax myself.
With my eyes closed, I can barely hear them walking. Maybe this is a special trait for their kind or they are trained that way. After all, these are the villains, right?
“We’ll dump her here,” Fancy boots said after some time.
I felt Ist’s body stiffened. So did mine.
